Quick, clean and easy!

Great place for a stopover. We got in at 6am and wanted a nap before Blue Lagoon. The room was clean, reasonable, quiet and had everything we needed. There was even a coffee maker and shared kitchen. It was easy in and out. I would definitely recommend!

Not Hypoallergenic

The chemical fragrance in the linens was having an extremely negative effect on my wife’s health. We called Booking.com (as instructed) and spoke with a customer service representative quite early in the morning of September 8 about the problems with the accommodations. We cancelled the remaining five nights of our planned stay due to my wife’s negative reactions to the odor in the room, specifically September 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12. The Booking.com customer service representative apologized for the health issue and said that a refund should not be a problem, although it would take some time to process. We received an email from Booking.com the morning of September 8, after our phone conversation with them, confirming our cancellation of five nights and again apologizing for the problem with the intense chemical fragrance in all of the linens. We packed up and got out of there fairly early in the morning of September 8. Again, we did not see the owners, and with the amount of distress my wife was experiencing from the nasty chemical fragrance of the linens in the room, our one and only focus at that moment in time was to get out of there. Not to mention we had to find another place to stay.
We patiently waited to hear back from either Booking.com or the Motel Arctic Wind. After a month of not hearing anything, we called Booking.com on October 9, 2025. After explaining the purpose of our call, the customer service representative was able to see that our call to them on September 8, 2025, was logged into their system, and their attempt to contact the Motel Arctic Wind that day was also logged into their system. However, the customer service rep from Booking.com told us during the October 9 phone call that they never received a reply from the owner of the Motel Arctic Wind. It seems the owner of the Motel Arctic Wind decided to ignore our problem. During our call on October 9, the Booking.com customer service rep put our call on hold (after getting our permission) while he called the Motel Arctic Wind. When the customer service representative got back on the line with us, he said that we needed to contact the Motel Arctic Wind to discuss our issue. We do not believe it is our responsibility to call Iceland to talk with the owner of the Motel Arctic Wind. All of our communication was through Booking.com. Apparently the owner of the Motel Arctic Wind refuses to call us, so the customer service representative from Booking.com told us to post a review so the owner of the Motel Arctic Wind could respond. That is the reason for this long review. We also are posting this review to warn travelers that the Motel Arctic Wind and Booking.com seem to be more interested in pointing fingers at each other than they are in providing good customer service. As a result, we strongly suggest that people avoid using Booking.com or staying at the Motel Arctic Wind. If either (or both of them) work to reach a satisfactory solution to our issue, we will gladly revise this review.
Other issues we had with the accommodations at Motel Arctic Wind:
An email we received from Booking.com on August 30, 2025, at 7:31 a.m. stated, “There is a grocery store 100 meters from the motel open from 11:00 - 19:00.” The "grocery store" was actually a very tiny convenience store at a gas station, with limited offerings and higher prices than an actual grocery store.
The WI-FI signal was very weak in our room. We had to go to the kitchen to use the internet.
Our room was TINY -- much smaller than it appeared online. (The picture online is of a larger room, very misleading.) We had to formulate an incredibly strategic plan to figure out where to put our luggage so we could even move around the room at all (it still involved climbing over luggage).

Good first stop after late night flight

Rooms were clean, functional and easy check in middle of night after arriving from late flight. We didn't use kitchen or hot tubs but nice they were there. Location seems to in business/ semi- industry zone but was quiet and fine. Think hotel is good pre- or post-flight or maybe as a base for day trips(?).

No television. Hot tub was not in service. No liquor store in town of Vogar. Restaurant across the road is not open for breakfast. The communal kitchen is well equipped but no directions provided on how to use the hot plates.
