A gem in the Peloponnese

This is a lovely and relaxing hotel. It’s not a high end 5 star but all the better for that. The staff are all extremely helpful and friendly. Rooms are lovely and spacious with efficient air con ( much needed in 37 degrees)
Breakfast is a wonderful spread with a wide variety. Excellent fresh fruit and yogurt.
The restaurant is good with a modern spin on Greek classics. There is a perfect little cove for swimming down some steps.
Two pools to choose from. The infinity pool does get busy and, as others have highlighted, some groups do spread themselves out, meaning others can’t find a bed. The hotel could perhaps monitor this?
A short taxi ride takes you to Koroni, a small pretty sea side town with fish restaurants by the sea.

Colonides, the "silence" does not exist

There are no serious drawbacks to this place, but no highlights either.
Very large complex, very spacious rooms (executive), well air-conditioned, clean.
There are two pools, one near the reception (be careful, the stairs are slippery) and a wonderful, panoramic one near the restaurant.
Unfortunately, both are always full of kids screaming and splashing, and the parents are even worse.
At least the infinity pool, the most beautiful one, could be reserved for adults 16+ to ensure a relaxation area for couples and adults.
In fact, the resort is geared toward families with small children.
With a slightly steep walk, you reach a very nice and private beach.
Breakfast with industrial products, but enough choice for a 4-star hotel. The dining room in the morning is in total chaos because of the children screaming and running everywhere, and the staff is clearly struggling.
At lunch and dinner, the situation improves. Limited menu but good food, very high prices, passable service.
It's a place that doesn't have major shortcomings, but it remains practically anonymous, soulless.
Too much confusion for those looking for relaxation
Very poor Wi-Fi in our room

A beautiful and tranquil setting

So I'll start by saying I loved this hotel and we had a great stay. We were here for 6 nights in a junior suite - the room was spacious, modern, clean and comfortable, the plunge pool was great after a hot day in the sun (worth knowing the private terrace/plunge pool is in the shade in the afternoon), the two pools were great - particularly the infinity pool which is stunningly beautiful. The location is quiet - Vounaria is a tiny town, although there are a handful of places to eat within walking distance of the hotel. And the hotel restaurant was fantastic. The staff were always friendly and we got a pretty good deal booking direct.
But ... while I genuinely loved it here, I think it would have a different ambience in peak summer. It felt to me like the hotel is walking a very fine line between pure luxury (rooms, infinity pool, fancy restaurant) and a family-friendly destination (it's on Jet2 package holidays, and at times there was a fair bit of competition for sunbeds around the infinity pool, not helped by multi-family groups with lots of children spreading their belongings over a good proportion of the sunbeds). This made it at times feel like the hotel is unsure of its own identity and maybe this is ok - maybe it changes slightly between peak and non-peak. If it goes full luxury, I probably wouldn't be able to afford to stay again, and if it goes full family friendly, I probably would choose not to go back - which would be a shame as I did love it. But I would say worth considering what sort of holiday you're after and timing this accordingly so you get what you want.

Great!

Colonides delivered everything promised and more during our recent stay at this quality hotel. The location is beautiful. The view over the Messinian Gulf to the rugged terrain of the Mani is breathtaking. We were welcomed by the very charming Marianna who gave us a comprehensive tour of the site and all the details needed for our time in Colonides. Our room was a luxurious sea view. It was clean, bright and comfortable. There was ample storage space and the air conditioning was very effective. The sea view certainly did not disappoint and we enjoyed this every night from the private balcony. Breakfast was excellent! Served in a restaurant that stretched out on an open terrace with those fantastic views, there was a very good choice of food that was constantly replenished. The menu for each was varied, sometimes with specials and overall the quality of the food was excellent. What really stood out however and made our stay special was the friendly and generous hospitality shown by the staff.

For those who value quality, comfort and privacy

A wonderfully stylish place ideal for holidays of relaxation and tranquility. Courtesy and professionalism from all the staff who with a smile and discretion offer services. Our deluxe room with sea view is excellent. Daily cleaning, free supply of Nespresso capsules and towels for the pool and the enchanting beach-natura located just beneath the hotel.
extremely quality and varied breakfast in the area of the infinity pool with views of the Messinian Gulf.
