A really good week at Memphis Hotel

We stayed at Memphis Hotel in Kolymbia for one week, and honestly, we had a very good experience. Before booking we noticed a few negative reviews on Tripadvisor, so we weren’t sure what to expect — but in the end, we were pleasantly surprised. The staff were very nice, welcoming, and always willing to help, which really added to the stay. The food was also good, with enough choice each day to find something we liked. It may not be gourmet, but it was tasty and satisfying. Our room was comfortable and clean, with everything we needed for a relaxing holiday. The hotel itself has a laid-back atmosphere and a convenient location, making it easy to enjoy both the pool and the surrounding area. It’s not the most luxurious place you’ll find, but that’s also part of the charm — it delivers what it promises without overcomplicating things. In our opinion, if you’re not the kind of person who is extremely picky, you can have a really nice holiday here. For us, it was exactly what we were looking for: simple, relaxing, and enjoyable. We would happily recommend Memphis Hotel to anyone considering a stay in Kolymbia.

Good but not great

I am at the Memphis Beach right now, with my daughter. After booking, the reviews had intimidated me, so I will try to be objective. The property is very beautiful, very clean, and tidy. Recently renovated rooms, very clean with a small balcony and brand-new furnishings. 2 pools + 1 for children, small but nice and perfectly maintained. Picture-perfect green areas. Sea at 150 meters, not managed by the hotel (umbrella and 2 sun loungers €12) or the option of a free beach. The negative points were the organization of Alpitour: there was no meeting to explain the stay, propose excursions, or inform about the return transfer. And the catering, which, although buffet-style, is limited in choices and does not reach a passing grade in terms of quality. The air conditioning is for a fee (€8 per day) and the mosquitoes.... in swarms... We will return tanned, relaxed, but thinner and full of insect bites.

I was scammed

We just finished our stay at this hotel, located in a great central position in Kolimbia and halfway between all the main attractions of the island. This is a hotel that offers an all-inclusive service with decent breakfast, where everything is available (I do not recommend the desserts in general, but I do not eat them), lunch, and dinner with a different theme every evening. The food is not exceptional, often the products are packaged, but there are also fresh salads and the meat is decent. I greatly appreciated the American coffee available throughout the day by the pool, and the breakfast location was also wonderful. The staff works very hard to keep everything clean and they are very good.
Unfortunately, my vacation was ruined by the surprise I had upon arrival, namely the assignment of a room that was not the one I booked. To get my room, I had to add a rather significant amount due to their mistake, but they did not even listen to my reasons or look at the reservation I had on my phone. The manager did not come to resolve the issue; I asked to at least have the air conditioning for free, but there was no way. The reception staff was really rude and not at all helpful.
For this reason, my stay cannot be considered satisfactory.

Disappointing All-Inclusive Great Location but Poor Food

I stayed at this hotel and unfortunately was very disappointed with the food service. I had paid for all-inclusive, but the options were extremely limited. Breakfast was especially poor, with only eggs and some bread available. Lunch and dinner didn’t improve much, with the same salad served every day and very few choices overall. Definitely not what you expect from an all-inclusive stay.
There was also no bottled water provided for the room, so I had to buy water and snacks from outside daily. Air conditioning wasn’t included either, and you had to pay extra to use it, which was frustrating.
On the positive side, the staff were polite and friendly, the room was spacious, and the location is very good. Buses stop right outside the hotel, which made it easy to visit Lindos, Rhodes Town, and Symi Island. Shops and restaurants nearby gave a much better holiday vibe, and I’d recommend eating out instead of relying on the hotel’s food.
Overall, the hotel is in a great location with good staff and transport links, but the food was very poor. I would not recommend booking all-inclusive here, as it simply isn’t worth it

You get what you pay.

You get what you pay. When we booked, this hotel was the cheapest deal in the area. The hotel is in good shape, here seems to be some new or renewed. At first glance, the building with the reception seems a bit tiny, but that is deceptive. Downstairs follows that restaurant, then follow pool and terrace. Since it goes slightly downhill in this direction, you can't see it from the road. There is a larger older building with extra pool and 2 newer(?) smaller buildings - so the experiences can be quite different.
The rooms are actually a bit small, especially if you only book a double room with a teenager. The terrace is tiny.
That you pay extra for air conditioning and safe (at the reception) in this price range on site is quite common.
The food is fine, every day fish, meat, vegetables, salads, occasionally a theme night. We have eaten worse in similar hotels (Afandou Blu). We used the all inclusive offer but not daily.
There are fixed times for long drinks and cocktails at the bar, wine and beer are 11am-11pm - with some guests you have to say: unfortunately. But that's because of certain guests, not the hotel.
The staff is very friendly throughout.
The beach is 5 minutes away. The beach itself is a sandy beach with some stones, in the water often goes stony - but you see quite a lot of fish underwater. For snorkeling great, for small children rather not - or get swimming shoes.
The “large” shopping street of the village with the usual restaurants and tourist shops can be reached directly via a side entrance. The large building mentioned is parallel to this street, about 30 m away. The two smaller houses are located Safari Tee and are therefore probably quieter. We were accommodated in the latter and had no problem with noise or similar.
A “normal” Supermark is not found nearby.
The entire facility makes a well-kept impression, there are fewer “provisions” than elsewhere. Ultimately, you get fair value for your money.
