Excellent!!!

Very nice, comfortable, careful and clean rooms!
The location is ideal for traveling around Chora - without a car.
Breakfast, a bit limited in the options, but honest and qualitatively good.
Ideal value for money option!

Enjoyable Stay

We stayed in this hotel for two nights in early June. The hotel is situated on the main road into the Chora. It is a low rise complex with 12 rooms. It was built, we understand, in 2012. The hotel is some way from the port – Merihas – and for us the hotel arranged a taxi to meet the ferry. Taxis are available on Kythnos but we did not see any bus services. The taxi journey takes about 20 minutes and cost us €15. For visitors with their own vehicle there is a private parking area beside the hotel. We believe the hotel could accommodate guests with any mobility issues.
Entry to the hotel from the street is across a private paved area and into a building that houses reception, a large bar with considerable hard and soft seating and the breakfast room – which itself is a large conservatory type room, set above the plain and looking out in the distance to the sea. There is no pool.
The hotel has several paved terraces with outdoor seating. These are often adjacent to the entry to one of the three blocks that comprise the accommodation. It seemed to us that there were four rooms in each block.
We were accommodated in a Deluxe Studio and during our stay the hotel was largely empty. The room was accessed by a lockable door to the block and then a lockable door to the room. It was a large room with, at the furthest point from the door, a full width balcony of some depth with table and chairs – private with views to the sea.. The balcony was accessed through doors from the bedroom which contained a large bed (a four poster albeit we had not expected such!) with good quality linen and bedside tables. Beside the access to the balcony was a desk and a chair at suitable heights for working. The room had a kitchenette with cooker, refrigerator etc and a dining table with three upright chairs. Between the bedroom and kitchen there was a large comfortable sofa. The kitchen had a powerful extract fan although we did not use any of the kitchenette facilities. The bathroom had a shower cubicle, was small but functional and perfectly clean. No window, but it had an extract fan. Toiletries were good quality and towels were OK. Beside the entry door to the room was a large wardrobe, well capable of storing a weeks’ clothes for two people. There was a safe. All in all the whole room felt comfortable and spacious. Aircon was efficient and wifi fine but did not work on the balcony. We experienced no noise from the street (although we were on the back of the hotel), there was a municipal car park – nearby but off to the side - that was well used but we did not hear any noise. Given that the hotel was nearly empty we cannot comment on internal noise at all!
Housekeeping was excellent – the bedclothes were not only changed but lightened for our second night in the knowledge that the night would be hotter than when we arrived.
The breakfast room is large and airy and more than adequate to deal with a large number of guests simultaneously. Because we were staying in low season we were served a breakfast but we understand that normally there is a buffet set out in the adjacent bar. Breakfast was delivered by the owner who was very attentive to our needs (we are vegetarian) and provided a generous spread of hot and cold food. Much of the food is sourced locally and home cooked. It was delicious. The bar was not open during our stay.
For dinner we were directed to a sister establishment also called Messaria a short walk towards the Chora. The restaurant may do lunch but we only enjoyed it for dinner. There is no discount for hotel guests. Opposite the hotel and along the road into the Chora there are plenty of restaurants and bars. There is also the usual number of tourist shops, there is a bank, car hire etc. There is a supermarket next door to the hotel.
Staff were unfailingly helpful. The owner has restricted spoken English but his wife is completely fluent as was the assistant in the breakfast room and we had no trouble conversing with the housekeepers. The hotel is scrupulously clean.
During our stay there was a four person walking group overnight. We understand that the hotel does appear in some holiday company literature, but although it is a small hotel the public areas are substantial and can address a full hotel without – in our opinion – appearing crowded.
This is a family run hotel with people who care about their guests. At all times they were personable and professional. It is economically priced. We would certainly return.

Great choice

Clean hotel, spacious rooms with kitchen and living room, excellent hospitality and very good location at the entrance to the country. The only downside was that the layers, although they are of good quality, seemed to us a bit tough. Breakfast could have been better. Excellent choice for stay!
