A very good week ☀️
Despite all the reviews, we had a very good week. It is a small hotel on a human scale (around thirty rooms) with a very warm welcome and very friendly staff. The food is OK, there is no kitchen on site and a caterer comes three times a day. The rooms are large and clean. The hotel is quiet and relaxing. If you want more, go to these large, impersonal and noisy complexes!!

Catastrophic - DO NOT GO
Hotel of poor quality. Does not deserve the 4 stars at all. The rooms are spacious, the bedding is comfortable, but the cleaning is fast (10 minutes). The food is bland and flavorless, very few choices always the same. Catering is not done on site, except for grilling. The bar has 4 cocktails with alcohol and 2 without alcohol, but Maricris and Antony are very friendly. This hotel cannot accommodate guests with reduced mobility. The receptionist Mrs PETSA is great but went to another hotel (too bad). The worst hotel I made in Crete (I had hot water every other day), I had to get angry with the reception. No breakfast (luckily I planned everything and ate well with my supermarket purchases) before I left at 2am. If you leave early and you come back late from excursions you must ask the day before at the reception that the boiler be open to take your shower, the same for breakfast which is limited to 3 biscottes and butter. It was my eighth trip. I had read the reviews to leave but frankly it's better to go to a resort. Fortunately I had some great meetings.

The truth and only the truth about Sunshine seaside Cherssonisos
After reading all these reviews, which were not very favorable, I decided to try this hotel. I have probably read every possible website that would help me make a decision. After all, we choose the best-rated places for holidays, especially with family, with beautiful views and photos, etc. We risked the all-inclusive option for 7 nights. I was slightly worried that the words someone wrote about this hotel would come true. What a great surprise it was where we found ourselves. We were greeted at the reception by Maria, who, even though we were 5 hours before check-in, gave us the keys to the room and explained everything. A very nice and competent person. Yes, the door to the room creaked, normal in a seaside resort where salt gets everywhere. The room has air conditioning, clean and nice bedding, fresh towels, fridge, hairdryer, TV, safe (additionally paid), two terraces, wardrobe, desk, bathroom with shower. Very large room. There is a view of the sea the hotel is composed of a bungalow, hence the peace and quiet. At 12:30 we had dinner and there was a large selection of mainly Greek dishes (and that's what we wanted), three wines and beer to choose from, as well as various flavored drinks, including local alcoholic drinks. We liked it very much. We were on StarBeach beach, which is literally across the street. Everything there is well prepared for children and there is a nice bar. I consider this a very big plus. We were only surprised by the underground pedestrian crossings, which are so low that we had to bend down, such is the charm of Herssonisos on this street. In addition, a variety of flavors, barbecue for dinner, etc. I forgot to mention that the hotel has its own swimming pool and everything you need. If you are looking for a glamorous interior and you came for your holiday to stay in a hotel, this is not the facility for you, what counts here is the people and the atmosphere, which is very friendly. When the hotel manager found out that we had a small child with us, they brought us toys so that we didn't have to buy them. I would like to thank you with all my heart for the wonderful holiday I was looking for.

*** my post concerns the sunshine seaside hotel and not the sunshine village which is located above ***
Hotel well located in the city center of Hersonissos, and very fortunately because we went to eat there very frequently given the quality of the food which is really not good and it is not the food of the day.. tomato raw vegetables cucumbers at all meals... even not fresh room temperature, the refrigerating plates do not work. There is no variety, it's always the same thing.... we must have leftovers from the hotel above.... dried out knacki sausages at snack time
Snack with nothing to eat!!! Oh yes pastries from I don't know when... all hard!! Which are put on, put off and put on again...
No whole fruits just watermelon and yellow melon. In the morning, fried eggs cooked in advance exposed to the sun!!
Broken deckchairs and parasols, we collect the broken equipment from the hotel upstairs to put it in the sunshine!
Swimming pool not maintained at all. Fuzzy and greenish which smelled very bad when we arrived, and when we went to the hotel to ask that the necessary things be done... Maria, the hostess, told us that it was fault of vacationers who bathed with their sunscreen...
On the site it says that the towels were included in exchange for a deposit... well no nothing at all! When we went to ask for beach and pool towels, Maria, who by the way is rather very haughty and really looks down on us... told us to go buy some, that it didn't cost much... the joke!! !
Walkways filled with weeds.
Room filled with sand when we arrived.
Some very nice waiters but who don't do their job as they should...for example tables not cleaned while they are on their cell phones watching videos.
Key to our room that opens other hotel room doors. We were with several French couples and one evening we went to the wrong floor and we managed to open the door to a room that did not belong to us... fortunately it was a single room with who we were!!!
One evening one of them came, he only played electro, and no one danced, there were 3 women who were there, they kindly asked him if he could put on a little song from the 80s and there he got really angry with her, telling them that we French were never happy when we broke her ass, that we were idiots and that if we wanted camping music we were wrong place... but what right does this gentleman have to make such comments!!
In brief HOTEL TO ABSOLUTELY AVOID

Save yourself a terrible experience

We were with the family of 4 adults and 1 child, on a 1-week holiday at the Hotel Sunshine Seaside Hersonissou, in Crete in the period 22 to 29 July 2023 - it was one of the most negative experiences we have had - despite the fact that we have holiday rights in many countries and have stayed in many hotels and resorts.
Had bought and paid for 2 family rooms, but was accommodated in 1 family room with garden view and a double room with an extra bed.
The family room only had a view of a busy main road and a car park.
Both rooms were unfurnished, apart from beds and a single chair in the family room.
There was only air conditioning in one room, so we experienced more than 30 degrees in the adjacent room.
The jacuzzi is a useless plastic container covered by a tarp and tiles, at the entrance to the resort. The pool was for most days uncleaned, dirty and clammy and the sunbeds by the pool were cracked.
There was no electric kettle, tea-coffee making facilities or iron, although this is also mentioned in the hotel facilities. Bed linen was never changed and towels were only changed on request, toilet paper had to be "begged" for.
Despite various communications and documentation of what was bought with the hotel during the holiday, it was not possible to change the situation and we were told that we had received what we had ordered!
So if you are considering booking a holiday at the Hotel Sunshine Seaside Hersonissou, in Crete, you must be prepared for a very negative surprise - our recommendation is "find another hotel and be spared this horrible experience"
