Good but not great!
Our suite was not in the main building so we did not feel as if we were staying in a hotel, however, it would have been helpful to have had some instructions/guidance on the set up of the property. Although there was some crockery and glasses on the shelves, there was nothing to enable us to wash them properly and, having been around a couple of times when the cleaner turned up, I don’t think she had the proper equipment to do that either. There is also a large spa bath in the suite but it looks as if it has never been used since the day it was installed. The room was spacious and the bed was comfortable and the hotel is conveniently located close to restaurants and shops. We were only there for one week so it was doable but a bit more information about the room and the service would have been appreciated.

A hidden gem – where charm meets modern comfort!
What a wonderful discovery! This Madonna Del Mare City boutique hotel is exactly what you would dream of for an authentic stay in Chania. It is a small paradise, located in the winding, lively streets of the old town, and yet through the door you enter an oasis of calm and style.
The hotel is absolutely enchanting – new, spotlessly clean and furnished with an eye for detail. The decor is a successful mix of Cretan charm and modern, stylish design. The stunning, bold colors throughout the premises immediately lift the mood and create a cheerful, welcoming atmosphere. Each apartment is unique and has its own distinctive character. You can see that the work was done with attention to detail and a real sense of aesthetics.
Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis apartment, this is just perfect! The room is bright, spacious and incredibly quiet – you really hardly hear anything of the bustling old town outside the door. The decor is tasteful and elegant, just as you would expect from an apartment of that name. We particularly enjoyed the morning hours when the soft light fell through the windows and immersed the room in a warm, cozy atmosphere.

Very noisy on a night, air con didn’t work or the hairdryer or the safe, needed a code for the tv no instructions, no one there when we arrived and the same with another couple and they had a code that didn’t work, balcony very small glass floor with constant light on, maybe ask people’s ages we were kept awake till 4am most nights. We are shattered we needed the doors windows open as not a fan of air on however that didn’t work so had to shut everything to bloke the noise. Really not a nice holiday owing to the room.

Overall the place was nice with a balcony facing the square by the harbor. However, there was loud music from the bar in the square every night and even after the music stopped the noise from the bar was loud. We didn’t sleep for 3 nights and left one night early. Also note that there is no staff onsite ever — this is more like a home rental without amenities than a hotel.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. We highly recommend it to anyone staying close to Old Chania.
