Central and quiet location, on-site parking available

Central and quiet location. Hotel is a beautiful old villa with renovated rooms. Parking available on site, fine and rich breakfast. Our room even had views of the Steinhuder Meer. Friendly hosts. What more could you want?

ONCE AND N I E W I E R !!!!

Price for a small "hole" as a room with old, worn furniture on the ground floor overlooking the backyard. NO room service, it was NOT cleaned, the garbage remained in the room, the beds not made. The biggest disappointment was the breakfast, which can hardly be described as such! All the food at the "buffet" came from the discount store, including the rolls from Lidl. Hardly any choice, the container in which the scrambled eggs were obviously had already been emptied by the time we showed up for breakfast at 8am, they were still sitting in the dining room enjoying their scrambled eggs. NOTHING was added! The guest came up empty, as long as the craftsmen had enough to eat! Just pathetic, we found the price of 125,- € per night a pure rip-off!

Nice cottage, otherwise nothing much to write home about

We arrived around 6.30 p.m. on a week day after several hundreds km journey, at the same time as another couple.
The reception was dark and as we approached the counter we heard a grumpy voice saying "now you must wait!". We did.
After a minute or two, a somewhat sulky woman emerged from the background and before anything she grumbled "first you need to pay!"...
No "hello", no "good evening", no "welcomes". The woman merely gave us the key to the cottage and now with a shade of a smile, told us where to park.
It was a nice 3-storey cottage in a separate refurbished building, with spacious bedrooms, modern furnishings, tasteful decoration, nice bathroom, fitted kitchen, all very clean. Nothing to complain about.
Breakfast was OK, good choice of products.
The whole place seems to be run by two women, one of them very friendly, the other one not so.
Nice period (main) building, impressive entrance and staircase with dark oak wood.

Good stay near the Meer

It's location is the reason for this hotels success. Just a few metres from the shore of the lake. The rooms are numerous in their shapes and sizes. Difficult to give a single comment applicable to all rooms. Those who are pit off by spiders be warned. Steinhude is next to a nature Park and you will find spiders in your room. I had five on my arrival. They are harmless but they were there. The room was clean, featured modern decor and the bed was comfortable. WiFi worked ok. Could have been better, uses a voucher system, one device per voucher. They only gave us one voucher. Breakfast was regular, typically German, no toaster, limited cereals and lots of cold cuts. Coffee thermos hold two cups maximum. There are cheaper hotels in the area with better breakfasts. Overall value for money 5 out of 10, the Maris is expensive for what you get. Overall, a good option but there are others which are better.

While you're in Hannover

We had to be in Hannover, but as it happens often there was absolutely no rooms, so we have looked around and found it in 30 km from city. We were so surprised to find real sea view with boats and beaches and good place to stay, even decided that we should come there again. Hotel is on the big lake Steihude Meer, very nice with islands and castles, fishing boats, ducks and swans and boardwalks around. The hotel is not modern, it is old house with wooden floors and stares, so you might hear people walking outside, small bathrooms are fitted inside rooms. But service is good and place is terrific.

Excellent location
