Ideal location outside the train station to the right. Check-in was fast and efficient. Staff were friendly and helpful. The shower in the room was excellent.
One suggestion: a few more television channels would be appreciated. I think I counted under 5.

Mediocre city hotel in dire need of improvement and renovation.
The location right at the main train station is top-notch, and public transport is therefore right on the doorstep.
However, this is also associated with quite a lot of noise from trains, trams, buses, cars, and many people. Unfortunately, the hotel does not have soundproof windows. From the outside, it still has that old GDR charm.
As can be seen from previous reviews, one of the two central elevators has been broken for years. That was the case for us as well. That is completely unacceptable in such a large hotel with 6 floors!
During peak times, it takes forever for the elevator to reach the 6th. floor.
The hotel does have a third elevator, which is mainly used by the cleaning staff. This one only goes down to the conference room floor on level 0 without a key. From there, only a spiral staircase leads to the lobby on the ground floor.
Furthermore, it is very negative that the hotel cannot afford air conditioning, a safe, soundproof windows, or even slatted bed bases.
That is more than unusual and very poor for an IntercityHotel, which belongs to the Steigenberger Group.
The rooms are sufficiently large and clean. There is also enough space in the bathroom. The shower has a high threshold and no shelf at all for your own shower supplies. The water temperature changes constantly, the shower door seal was partially hanging off, and the hair dryer is way too hot.
The double beds, with a continuous mattress, are only 160 cm narrow and rock-hard, since there is no box spring, but only a chipboard under the mattress.
There is no air conditioning, no refrigerator, and also no safe.
The carpet in the room is partially stained, the pictures on the wall are totally faded by the sun, and the two chairs have such thin padding that the frame presses into your backside.
The Wi-Fi is very good.
If you do not want cleaning, you hang out a sign, and if you like, you get a sweet thank you in the small jute bag that you also hung out.
The breakfast is good, but could be better. There is a normal selection. Unfortunately, no bacon is offered with the scrambled eggs, and you never find salmon either - that should certainly be included at this breakfast price. There are small meatballs and sometimes small Vienna sausages. You can find various types of rolls, a good selection of cold cuts and ham, as well as cheese. In addition, there are prepared salads, cucumbers, tomatoes, olives, pepperoni, etc. on offer.
The orange juice tastes good, and the unfortunately only fully automatic coffee machine makes a nice, strong coffee. Besides that, there is also filter coffee from a pot.
A good selection of muesli, jams and honey, yogurts, fresh fruits, and fruit salad round out the offer.
The service staff at breakfast were friendly - with the exception of the cook.
When I stood in front of the open container with the scrambled eggs and picked up the spoon, he came from the side and pulled the lid shut.
No idea if he wanted to reduce consumption that way. I have never experienced such insolence.

Just getting worse and mediocre food.
Stayed overnight here for a bus ride. Pretty big room but with a pitiful grand-lit bed. Totally useless. No facilities as close as on a hairdryer. For being in Germany in a hotel like this, the breakfast was downright pitiful. The staff at the front desk and restaurant not so nice either. No, this is not good enough. In the evening dinner was served as a buffet and it may be good, but not this time. The fish dish ran out and it would take a while before the next round was finished, had to settle for a chicken breast (dry and without seasoning). The mashed potatoes tasteless, probably powdered. The vegetables were slightly so when and on the salad table, two of five varieties were out. Unfortunately, even the beer was not cold enough, so on the whole quite bad and woeful.

Great location, but uncomfortable beds
Great location in Schwerin. What pulls down the grade considerably are the bad beds. Hard beds and bad pillows. The room is clean, but outdated. It smells a little old, it's probably because of the carpeting.

Inspection report
Inspection report: The communication at the reception by the staff is poor; the guest is not greeted appropriately. No warm welcome at the Intercity Hotel Schwerin, how was your arrival? / Due to the rain, there was a water accumulation in the entrance area (sliding door) for two days, and the outdoor ashtrays were not emptied for two days. It was waited until the cleaning staff emptied the outdoor ashtrays in the entrance area of the hotel, as well as for the water accumulation to be removed. As an employee of the hotel, attentiveness is expected. There is a small vending machine for drinks near the elevators, where attention should be paid to ensuring there is enough sugar and milk. When addressing the reception staff, we expect communication skills, including maintaining eye contact during a conversation and not having the staff disinterestedly looking at the computer.
The room furnishings are kept simply solid, in the style of the 1980s. The exterior appearance of the hotel is in need of renovation and requires attention.
The breakfast is simple and solid.
