Very nice evening

We went there with friends to eat goose. When we arrived we were greeted with mulled wine by the cozy fire. The food was great in a wonderful cozy atmosphere.
We felt very comfortable and would love to come back.
A clear recommendation for a cozy evening with good food and friendly hosts.

Stay away from this guesthouse!!!

Very disappointing stay – unfortunately not a recommendation!!!
Unfortunately, we were very disappointed with our stay at the Hotel zur Krone in Martinfeld.
In our opinion, the rooms are very small and offer correspondingly little space. We found the additional costs particularly annoying: A fee of €28 is charged for bringing a dog, which we find extremely expensive. There is also an additional charge of €5 per day for using the pool. Anyone who wants to pay by credit card must also expect an additional fee of €5.
On the first evening, we would have liked to have dinner at the hotel. Unfortunately, there was neither a menu nor a selection of dishes, but only a single daily special. From our point of view, this is particularly problematic for vegetarians – there is practically no alternative here.
Overall, we did not feel at all that the price-performance ratio was right. The many additional fees and the lack of choice in food significantly dampened our stay.
For us, it is therefore certain: We will not visit this hotel again and, unfortunately, cannot recommend it under any circumstances.

Rip-off - never again!!!

I had made a booking request for a room including breakfast buffet via the website. A few days later I had called because no booking confirmation came and made reservations by phone. I wish I'd kept my hands off it! Allegedly, the two-year construction site in the village is responsible for it not working with the Internet.
The room was clean and tidy, wifi worked great. However, meal times for supper were prescribed, a food selection was not possible. There was neither a menu nor a drink menu. After dinner, there was only a handwritten statement from which one could only guess what one paid for what.
For departure there was the next bad surprise. The room including breakfast suddenly had a price per person with breakfast and was no longer a room price as stated in the website.
We are regularly on the road in Thuringia and the Harz, but this has not happened to us yet. That was the full rip-off for us!

Never again !!

We originally booked two double rooms for four adults. Since we only arrived in the end as three, I kindly asked a few days before if one of the double rooms could be converted into a single room. Unfortunately, this is not possible – the pension is fully booked. Instead, we were offered the “suite” – which of course sounded tempting. So we agreed.
Upon our arrival we were rather reserved and greeted coolly. The “suite” turned out to be a normal double room with a pull-out sofa and a waterbed, which had already passed its zenith considerably. No sign of suite feeling. The wardrobe was hardly usable, as it was strategically placed behind the waterbed – presumably as a decorative object.
In the afternoon we had another drink and ordered a spaghetti ice cream. Unfortunately, it tasted strikingly like garlic – probably a creative reinterpretation or an accidental mix-up with the garlic press. My daughter's fanta had expired. According to our suggestion, there was neither an “Oh, sorry” nor a correction on the invoice. Must have been vintage Fanta.
In the evening, we wanted to play cards in the garden – this was “usable at any time for guests” according to the description. Unfortunately, the very table we wanted to use was “private”. So we went back to the room. There we were greeted by the glucerning waterbed (free sound effects included with every movement) and the pull-out sofa with a curtain as a bed sheet replacement. The curtain loops were still on – we almost felt like we were in improvisational theatre.
The night was accordingly not relaxing. Breakfast was served in the morning: the choice was okay, but rather functional. The buns were so crispy you almost needed tools. And the melon probably had already had several generations of refrigerators behind it.
Conclusion: It was definitely an experience – but unfortunately not in the sense of recreation. Price-performance is unfortunately not right here. We were looking forward to a cozy weekend – we got a mixture of nostalgia, improvisation and garlicky ice cream.

Okay for one night, but no more

Room with waterbed, which was not listed anywhere. Should be mentioned, not everyone can sleep well in it. In the room countless night butterflies, shelves dusty. The shower head super calcified, so the water splashes in all directions. Breakfast was okay, more choice of sausage and cheese would have been desirable
