Unconditional recommendation!!!

We were out hiking in the Zittau Mountains with our dog—once on the way to Lausche—once towards Nonnenfelsen…
Both times we settled on the terrace of Hubertusbaude.
We were warmly welcomed—our dog was immediately provided with fresh water—how attentive!
You are spoiled with a great view, good food, cold drinks, and a lot of friendliness.
We are very happy to come back and say a big thank you to the lovely, considerate ladies who served us!

Very nice welcome and great team. Very good breakfast and nice big rooms. Very nice view with valley view. We would definitely come back. Also the restaurant is highly recommended.

On top of the world

The view from the Wintergarten over the Czech Republic is amazing. Lovely setting, good service, varied menu. Senior portions are huge! Manager speaks good English, having been an exchange student in Melbourne. All credit cards are accepted, which is a rarity in this part of Germany.

Beatiful Setting, but Still Working Out Some Kinks

We spent one night at the Hubertusbaude Hotel during a family vacation in August 2012. We had three rooms -- one double, and two "family apartments." The setting is -- simply put -- stunning. The hotel sits on a hillside, at the end of a dead-end street, directly neighboring the border with the Czech Republic. The views are outstanding.
The double room we booked was very large and had a huge outdoor balcony, which was an unexpected plus. The two family apartments were identical, aside from one additional bed in the living room. Both units are two stories, with an inside entrance to the second floor (sleeping area), and a downstairs living room, bathroom, a large entrance room (which looked ideal for skiiers in winter), and an exit directly outside. The sleeping room had a double bed, single bed, and infant cot.
The hotel is relatively new and, therefore, in very good shape. The restaurant sits on a lower level, with a very large outside eating area and equally as large glassed-in area -- the views are wonderful. That said, we ate both dinner and breakfast in the indoor restaurant area, and the bugs were extreme -- to the point of being unnerving. There are no screens on the doors or windows, so as soon as the grew dark outside, literal swarms of bugs came into the restaurant -- and into drinks, food, etc. The children in our group "ran" outside for relief, but the bugs outside were just as bad. During breakfast, there were large numbers of bees in the restaurant and on much of the buffet food. A simple investment in screens and/or an industrial strength "bug-zapping" system would serve this hotel wonders.
Breakfast was served buffet style and was good, aside from the large numbers of bees on the food.
The overall level of service at the hotel, too, was not of the caliber I woud expect, given the relatively high prices. The front desk is not regularly staffed, and having to go to the restaurant for any room-related questions, towels, etc., was not expected in a hotel of this size or price range.
All that aside, I would recommend this hotel -- more for sleeping than eating.
