Great location

Great location for cathedral and altstadt (old city) close by. Exit the bahnhof / train station to the other side of the cathedral located right across from the plaza just down Johannesburg Strasse ~80 feet.
Comments:
1. Great location to easily walk about.
2. Rooms small and spartan with small shower and sink nook.
3. Cool but not too cool, meaning the rooms either face north (away from the hot sun) or south with an empty building nearly adjoining blocking southern exposure (we stayed when temp rose to mid-90s). No A/C so you’ll need to ‘kip’ your windows to cool the rooms (kip meaning to hopper tilt open).
4. Friendly and helpful staff. Chris helped us upon our arrival.
5. Great European continental breakfast bar with self-serve coffee, juice, cut fruit, breads, sliced deli meat and cheeses, yogurts, fresh fruit preserves and butter.
6. Fair rate.

Afrader to book. Friendly staff, friendly staff.

Room booked and paid for. Upon entering room immediately turned around and asked for our money back. The room was very dirty, small and there was a very dirty smell (poop / sewer) so we both had to gag.
Money requested to go to another hotel and this also obtained by the friendly staff.

Correct

Hotel located a stone's throw from the cathedral and the train station so say the location is ideal.
There is no parking so if you come by car like us, there is an underground parking very close.
The staff is lovely.
The rooms are old, but clean, the bathroom is the size of a cagibi and is not very functional (lack of hooks to hang towels and clothes, tiny sink so not practical when you wash your teeth, in the shower it lacks a small tablet to be able to put shower gel, shampoo etc)
On the other hand the bedding is perfect, and the soundproofing very good!
A little expensive for what it is but at this time of Christmas market, prices are soaring, it's okay and enough to spend a single night like us.

Okay, but not more than that

The whole hotel is quite small and feels crowded. It is very responsive and was not so well cleaned. In our room there was dust and old raisins in the corners. The bathroom was very small. The sheets felt more like mattress covers than sheets. In pictures it looks like you have a view of the cathedral, but you don't. The good thing was that it was central and close to the train station. The breakfast buffet was ok, but nothing special. It is good to know that there is an elevator, but that it is very small, (maximum one person). Had it cost less, it could have felt worthwhile, but now it only gets a rating of two out of five.
