2. Home

I was once again, as so often before, at the Eickhof. The rooms are all very comfortable and equipped with a TV, coffee machine, and electric kettle. Even in bad weather, you can have a very good time there.
The breakfast is excellent. Finally, not an impersonal buffet. All requests are fulfilled. In the afternoon, there is homemade cake, freshly baked waffles, and ice cream. At lunch and dinner, there is a very good menu. There are also extensive seasonal and regional dishes.
I have been coming to this establishment for more than 30 years now. For many years, I arrived several times a year with my horse. That also has every comfort.
The hotel is surrounded by dreamlike hiking, riding, and cycling trails. There are many leisure activities in the area.
I always enjoy coming back, and this year will not have been my last visit either.

It can always get worse - hardly ever...

Impossible and unacceptable – that describes it most kindly; had we not already driven 12 hours, we would have turned back immediately....
Regarding the facts: what is offered here for €150 per night (apartment with 2 bedrooms) borders on bodily harm. None of the pictures from the listing correspond to the apartment (according to the sign "exclusive apartment") – based on the attached photos, one can get a personal impression of the reality. The bed in bedroom 1 is completely dilapidated, the mattresses are sagging, unhygienic, and already "antique" – sleeping on it is impossible, bedroom 2 is a narrow, dark storage room – getting into bed on one side is impossible, on the other side it is more than cramped. The bathroom offers the amenities and charm of an East German train station toilet, the kitchen is a hardship (including equipment and a defective refrigerator) – as well as the other furnishings could be from the bulk waste: scratched, defective, and in a condition that only evokes disgust, even the wallpaper is peeling off the wall. Additionally: from all windows, there is an unobstructed view of the toilet trailer. The electrical installation is more than questionable – and even this is partly dirty and unkempt. Another bonus for €150 per night: to get to the apartment, one must go through a cluttered entrance, where the kitchen is located, and through which the organic waste bin is pushed down a narrow staircase, where the railing already evokes visions of contact allergies – fire safety and escape routes are for cowards anyway. Moreover, the whole place is seasoned with a penetrating smell of everything unappetizing... and this even in the apartment, in short, anyone who still wants to eat here must have already suffered the smell of death (which is why we also gratefully declined the included breakfast). Oh yes: Lighting is also something for snobs, the bathroom and bedroom 2 are more like darkrooms, even a bedside lamp is missing, in the kitchen hangs a fluorescent tube model from the 70s – in the dark, one first goes in blind flight to the next light switch (of course unlit) – even escape route markings are missing. Once again: compare the pictures in the hotel description with those we took – that is the reality.

Beautifully located, a place to recharge your batteries

Have rested there after a hike to Wilseder Berg. Great enchanted garden and home cooked food that tastes really delicious. Owner very nice, we felt totally comfortable.

Highly recommended

Super cozy garden area. There was still warm freshly baked cake. Very nice staff and owners. The coffee and beer also tasted good.

Beautiful country house in the heath with charm and delicious food

We stayed as a group of 7 in the beautifully located country house Eickhof for several days. The apartment was large and stylishly decorated. The owner Mrs. Ehlers and her daughter, employees and service staff spoiled us with delicious breakfast in the dining room and dinner on the beautiful terrace. There were dishes with pagan ornaments and wild boar, but also vegetarian dishes with chanterelles, very delicious. Not to mention the homemade cakes and cakes, especially the buckwheat cake, a dream!
From the country house you can make your way directly to Wilseder Berg and Totengrund. We would have loved to stay...

Very good location
