Highly recommend. Great hotel (facilities and restaurant/bar) perfectly located in the city center. Professional and helpful staff - and dedicated focus on the kids.

Honestly, I don’t think this is a true five-star hotel. I chose this hotel because it had air conditioning, but the room was quite small, and the fitness center was very basic.
The breakfast was average. There was no coffee machine, and to be ordered from the staff.
It also seemed that almost every additional service came with an extra charge. Other than its convenient location, I couldn’t find any significant advantages.

Some rooms don't have windows that you can open and in general there are no black-out drapes so you can't sleep from sunrise on without professional eye-pads. It was a huge problem for us so we will not be staying again.

Beautiful hardware, weak service

To get straight to the point, the hotel has beautiful hardware. We had a spacious, modernized room - unfortunately facing Maximilianstraße.
Why "unfortunately"? Because even during the week, the student city of Augsburg is very loud, until the early morning hours. There are loud shouts, bottles being thrown, cans being kicked, etc., meaning that sleeping with an open or slightly ajar window is quite difficult.
A disadvantage of the hotel is the location of the seminar and conference rooms, as at least one very large hall is located directly next to the reception, causing the foyer and possibly also the bar to be heavily frequented by participants, making it necessary for regular guests to push through the crowds in the foyer to reach the elevator or to get through the bar to the restaurant.
The performance of the restaurant "maximilian's" was below average. During dinner, I returned an appetizer that was completely oversalted, which was merely acknowledged with "I will pass it on to the kitchen."
The conclusion about breakfast is similar, which is officially available until 10:30 AM, but they start clearing the buffet shortly before 10:00 AM. Upon entry, one is still asked for the room number, but then one does not encounter any service staff for what feels like an eternity to order a drink - on the contrary, one gets the impression that the staff deliberately avoids them and only focuses on clearing the tables, if one even encounters a service staff member during breakfast. It is also incomprehensible that during breakfast, two chefs work in the open kitchen preparing dishes, but they are only for "stock." The egg dishes are pre-prepared and then displayed under heat lamps on the counter. A guest asked for a freshly prepared egg dish, but this was not possible; he was referred to the pre-made dishes. Pancakes that have been under the heat lamp for one hour or more are, of course, rock hard...
In general, there is the impression that especially during breakfast and also at the reception, trainees or temporary staff are working, which is fine in itself if experienced personnel is available to assist.

Do not stay on the fourth floor. It is the converted roof and the rooms have slanted ceilings. I was in room 401 and I had two slanted ceilings in the corner. Really they should be offering these rooms at a reduced rate and not the same class as a room with high ceilings. Other than that, the hotel is very nice and I do recommend it.
