A nice surprise in nature

A charming house perched in the middle of nature, a spacious bedroom, and breathtaking views from the private terrace. A very nice surprise! And to top it all off, a warm welcome from the owner who immediately made us feel at home. I recommend the place!

Delighted

The villa is wonderful. Quiet, in the middle of the forest but close to towns and sites of interest. The rooms are huge, comfortable and well equipped. The pool, maybe after a hot day touring villages in the area.
It is true that you have to bear in mind that you are in the middle of the countryside, with somewhat difficult roads for according to which cars and that it is not a city hotel. It is a (wonderful) house in the countryside.

A special piece of paradise

Full of character and charm, Villa Boulou is a glorious place to stay, with a small price tag. We had the double room with terrace. It was a big terrace with beautiful views. The fairly isolated setting in lovely wild nature means that you should really have a car. Quite near the Provence lavender fields, this little piece of heaven tantalises the senses! The house is full of quirky interest, with bathrooms in wardrobes and toilets behind lavish doors! Comfy bed and nice linen. Whilst not all spic and span this place is clean and wonderfully relaxing. Great swimming pool. Lovely unobtrusive welcome and a delicious continental breakfast with fresh croissants, various local breads and a plentiful supply of meats, cheeses etc in the big fridge. What's not to like?

Excellent location

Small but wonderful location. Swimming pool, excellent service and perfect rooms. Many thanks to the manager. Of immense sympathy.
It is a pearl immersed in Provence. If you are in these areas stop by here.

Horrible, disgusting, filthy place full of bugs, putrid smell and very rude owner. Give it a miss!

Horrible, filthy place full of bugs, putrid smell and very rude owner. Give it a miss!
It is a quiet place, I guess that is positive, and our room had a nice view. Apart from that, nothing matched our very basic expectations:
1. Pool is dirty and small. Water has not been changed since last year I guess.
2. Tried relaxing on one of the many ran down sunloungers by the pool: 9 minutes and about 30 mosquito bites later we fled back to the room. It was the middle of the day, when mosquitos are not usually active. However, because the plants and lawn are very heavily irrigated, despite the current heatwave and the call of the authorities to save water, the mosquitoes and tons of other bugs are eating you alive in the garden. Also - breakfast on the terrace is not possible: you have bees, wasps and tons of flies invading.
3. The room was not painted in the last 30 years, you have marks of dead insects, water damage, holes, etc. The corners are covered in mould and spider webs. The furniture is completely run down or simply broken, most uncomfortable bed ever! Honestly, most things called furniture in here is just trash and should have long been disposed of, they are just broken, e.g. the broken bed, the broken frames, night stand, etc. The walls and door are very thin, low privacy. No curtains, so no privacy from the street, passers by can just look into your room af any time.
4. The door to the bathroom was not closing, so being in this place with another person you will hear everything they do in the bathroom.
5. Shower door open on the low side, so lots of water pours out of the shower. Extremely low water pressure in the shower, I was unable to wash my hair because there was no way I could rince it.
6. Horrible, putrid smell out of the sink and the bathroom. I asked the owner to pour a drain-freeing liquid, she left me a very rude message stuck on the door saying it is impossible for the sink and the bathroom to smell! They have a drainage pit and I think by the noises it made and the unbearable, foul smell, the pit was full.
7. Rude, unhelpful owner who does not care about anything. Do not expect to see her beyond the handing in of the key. And she will accuse the customer, like she rudely told me how the sink cannot smell! She wrote in her note that she left on my door that mosquitoes do not exist! How about the 30 of them I killed on my skin and how about all the bites I was covered in??? I just imagined it, or what? There is ZERO effort she puts into making you feel welcome. I asked for 2 extra towels for the pool, I was told I should use the towels for the shower. The owner is a horribly unpleasant person!
8. The road and the drive up to the parking area are 1-lane, not entirely paved and very steep. Not so performant cars might encounter difficulties and overall it is just unpleasant.
9. The place feels old, run down and plain all filthy. Glasses are disgusting, you have to wash them yourself before using. Tiles on the steps are loose, which is really dangerous, someone might get hurt.
10. To top it all off we had ants in the bathroom, see picture.
11. In the fridge there was old cheese from the people before us, another proof the place does not get cleaned.
12. They do not separate trash, it is just one bin jn the room AND the kitchen.
13. One of the worst, filthiest place we ever stayed at. We ended up leaving early and gave up on the money we already paid. So we had to book somewhere else and basically paid double/ twice. We would not come back even if someone was paying us to do so and would not recommend it. Give it a miss! There are alternatives out there, go for one of those.
