Excellent week at Millau Mercure Hotel

We stayed for one week at Hotel Mercure in Millau at the end of April 2026. We booked a privilege room with view of the viaduct on the 8th floor. The room was very clean and had all the amenities that we needed including kettle, coffee machine and mini fridge. The room had a balcony with 2 chairs and a table with excellent view of the village and the viaduct. The bed was very comfortable with plenty of pillows. The staff on reception went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Especially Chanelle who was very helpful in giving us tips on where to eat and visit and spoke excellent English. The breakfast was continental with cereals, scrambled eggs, bacon and sausage, then different cheeses to try and various bread and croissants, yogurts and fruits. Plenty of choice. You could make your own drinks from the machine and boil or fry your own eggs. We booked a car park space next to the hotel that could be accessed through a security door which cost €17 euros a day. Would thoroughly recommend this hotel. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Not worth 4 stars hotel. More 2 stars

Very disappointing hotel. I booked, because of the Mercure name, thinking we'd get a real Mercure, 4 star hotel. In fact 2 to 3 stars would be more appropriate in this case.
The hotel is old, and feels it. You can see from the photos that the hotel is run down.
We arrived during a heatwave, and the airco for the whole hotel was not working. Inside the room (809) it was very warm. Around 7 at night, the airco was "repaired". Temperature inside the room descended to 24°C!!! The hotel were handing out fans to clients. It was impossible to sleep!
The bed is very comfortable and big, but the duvet cover is an old fashion ribbly material, and that is not comfortable. Due to the heat, we had to remove the duvet itself.
Balcony is nice with a view of the bridge and town, but the chairs on the balcony are metal, and in the sun you can not sit there unless you like getting burns.
There is a Nespresso machine and a kettle, but only espresso cups. So someone who wants to make tea, will need to drink from a tiny espresso cup!
The bathroom has old tiles on the floor and wall around the bath, with black dirt stuck to them due to age and lack of proper cleaning. The hair conditioner was empty. The shower is a bathtub, with a shower head that when you move it up higher (for tall people), the water pressure drops to a trickle.
One electricity plug on one bedside. Today, most 4 star hotels have either more than one, or they have USB connectors. Wifi is decent for members, if you're not, using telegram/morse will be faster.
The reception is shared with the Ibis hotel, so shared staff, so shared courtesy. There is no restaurant, just a place that serves lite snacks. If you want to eat, you'll need to walk into town.
Breakfast is basic. At 8 in the morning there was no bacon left. We were told that they could make some but it would take 20 minutes.
The garage is 100 meters away, and private. Half of the parking is covered, but the spaces are very, very narrow!!
This is one hotel that you should give a miss. Don't be fooled by the Mercure name!

Paris metro atmosphere: noise and smell

Rooms 701: smell of sewage in the bathroom , and unbearable vibrations every time the elevator worked: a real Parisian metro atmosphere. In short unacceptable for a 4 star hotel

Inhumane treatment and gross negligence during an emergency with a minor

After a severe accident (a tree fell on our car, shattering the windshield during a snowstorm), we sought refuge at this hotel in Millau. Despite explaining our critical situation and traveling with a 4-year-old daughter, the receptionist on the night of Dec 22nd flatly refused us a room, claiming they were full without even checking the system.
As a result, we were forced to spend the night inside a wrecked car with a broken window in freezing snow. The most outrageous part is that the following morning, we were able to book a room through Booking.com with no issues. The morning staff confirmed that there had been availability all along. This was a total lack of empathy and professionalism that jeopardized our safety. I strongly advise against staying here.
