Fabulous bed and breakfast, most highly recommended!
La Bastide de Bellegarde is a truly special place, the epitome of everything a French bed and breakfast should be – steeped in history, lovingly restored, filled with art and antiques, and hosted by the most engagin and genuinely lovely Brian. Brian is an artist in all ways, in the transformation of an old estate into a place of refinement and beauty, in the gorgeous plantings and landscaping, and in his absolutely fabulous cooking. Breakfast on the terrace each morning is a delight, everything you could want, and if you are able to have dinner at the inn it will be wonderful. Brian is generous in his attention to his guests, and his assistant Luana is simply amazing, a charming complement to Brian, thoughtful, intelligent, and someone I wish I’d had more time with. And she makes the world’s best omelets!

During our road trip from côte d’azur to Rhone valley, after our fantastic wine tasting (and buying) in the Châteauneuf-du-Pape region, we ended up in Avignon where just outside the city a beautiful magnificent Bastide jumped out for us to book as an overnight stay.
All expectations were exceeded, hence our assessment.
We do not really have a single negative point to report.
Arriving at the domain is beautiful, majestic, beautiful driveway where you can drive around or park at the end. The welcome was warm but especially overwhelming by the beautiful property, interior, but even more so upon entering our room. Romantic stylish atmosphere. Remarkable to me, the climate, is completely invisible but above all inaudible. Blissful to sleep, especially in the summer months.
Our plan was to visit Avignon and have something to eat there. Nothing wrong, but on our return we saw the other guests eating outside on terrace and the water came back in the mouth. Especially the French music in the background immediately reminded me of a degusting and thick cigar. this is it,....
After a very good (fresh) night we looked forward to breakfast. Whawwww, we were pleasantly surprised there too. Great variety, tasty fruit, cheese, in short everything, and more than enough but above all quality.
I'm going to close because it's about it;
One more word about the host; a very sweet man, proud of what he has accomplished and still working on projects. A man after my heart, fantastic tour and conversations. Hopefully we meet again.

DREAMY, ELEGANT & RELAXING STAY!
What a DREAMY, ELEGANT, RELAXING STAY! This was our absolute best place we stayed during our entire month traveling Europe! The minute our family arrived Brian greeted us like family. He made sure we were taken care of, gave us a tour of his breathtaking historical Bastide. The rooms were magical, tidy, clean and decor takes you away to another time. The Bastide is elegant and tastefully decorated with gorgeous antique pieces, the views from the rooms of the garden below are absolutely stunning. The garden serenades you day and night with all the singing birds. The best part was walking the garden, riding bikes around the property after dinner and relaxing pool side getting to know guests from all over the world as we sipped refreshing Rose. The staff is so warm and friendly, and always there to answer any questions day or night. Brian is just an absolute GEM and so happy to have met him-most genuine, loving, joyful soul. Furthermore, they cook the most delicious breakfasts and dinners with fresh, organic local foods. We loved not having to drive or go anywhere to dine as they cater to all. He even cooked our pescatarian son specialty dishes for for dinner. La Bastide De Bellagarde is eveything one dreams about being in France. Thanks for making us feel so very special Brian and we hope to visit soon! The Ehbrecht Family

Too bad
Overall, we had a good time, but our experience was a little below our expectations. The substitute manager present that day seemed to us to lack professionalism. His attitude sometimes seemed quite abrupt to us, even a little aggressive, which did not make the welcome very pleasant.
By reading the many positive reviews before our arrival, we were especially hoping to meet the usual manager, whose professionalism is often highlighted. We would have appreciated his presence, because that is partly what made us want to come. It’s a shame, because that slightly tarnished our overall impression.
