excellent local menu

Good evening,
We would like to let you know that we appreciated your professionalism, whether it was the welcome from Laura, your ray of sunshine, as well as the quality of the dining and also the staff who worked to provide satisfaction during the meal.
We had exchanges filled with very useful advice and instructions.
You are in an exceptional place that deserves to be known.
Best of luck for the 2026 season to the whole team.
Sincerely
Chantal and Dominique L G

Absolutely wonderful!!

The staff were outstanding. We had a short stay and needed to leave before check-out time. They accommodated us with no hesitation. They also surprised us with a room upgrade - a very nice touch. The Chateau is absolutely beautiful and refreshing delight.

A magical place

We stayed for 3 nights in June 2026. It does a great job of combining old world charm with modernity when wanted, e.g. in the bathrooms. Our bedroom had good air conditioning which was a godsend in the heatwave, as was the swimming pool. Breakfasts were excellent. We twice had dinner in the restaurant and it didn’t disappoint. It has a very helpful sommelier, Pierre, who selected great local wines. All staff, from front desk to breakfast were very friendly and helpful.
Overall, it is a pretty magical place and I would be very happy to stay again.

Headline: Life in a real chateau: atmosphere, butler and a little sad redfish

The Hotel Château de Pray is not just a place to sleep, it is an experience. You really do live in a 13th-century old chateau with towers, French gardens and the very atmosphere you go to the Loire Valley for. It's unusual, magical and very cinematic.
Which we really liked:
1. Numbers. Clean, cozy, with a nice design. We were allocated two adjoining rooms and the child had his own private room - that's a huge plus for a family vacation. The bed is comfortable, the bathroom is nice.
2. Staff. Separate ode to the porter (sorry I didn't remember the name with delight!). That's the real butler of the movies! The very kindness, the kindness, the respect for the guest - he does everything to make you feel important. It was amazing.
3. Territory and atmosphere. Surprisingly beautiful. Well-kept gardens, silence, in the evening in the tea room gathers a cute "grandmother" (as our child put it) of English tourists, drinking tea - very soulful and atmospheric.
What could be better:
Breakfast. Modest enough for that level. There was no red fish at all, the range is basic. At 21€ per person, you expect more variety.
Annoying little thing: there's a hole in the bedding downstairs. Small stuff, but the sludge is left.
Our embarrassment with dinner:
The hotel has a Michelin-starred restaurant, L'Orangerie (Chef Arnaud Philippon). We had pre-booked dinner, but we arrived from Mont-Saint-Michel by evening, tired. The child refused outright to eat "an obscure little food" (gastronomy is not his story). In the end, I had to go to Amboise to a regular meat restaurant. So if you're with the kids, be prepared for the fact that a Michelin star might not go to the younger generation. It's not a downside to the hotel, more travel advice.
All in all, a stunning place for atmosphere and beautiful photos. If you want a movie-like story with the perfect butler, here. But with breakfast and laundry, you should be more careful. Would you? Yeah, for tonight at the tea and park.

The Perfect Chateau in the Loire Valley!!

Chateau De Pray is the perfect place to stay in the Loire Valley. It's location, staff and property made our stay very special. The patio and outside atmosphere/grounds of the Chateau were very inviting. The summer weather was perfect for our afternoon visits to the pool. Laura and her staff were very gracious to all the guests. This is one property not to miss on your trip to the Loire Valley.
