Like being at home.

Meshra Katto was my base for 2 nights during my stay in Aswan. The place is clean, tidy, and spacious, and it overlooks the Nile with a spectacular and relaxing sunset view.
The owner turned out to be a fantastic person, with immense knowledge, and told me about the origins of the Nubians, their relationship with the Egyptians, and how they live now. He also guided me throughout my stay: from my arrival in Aswan to my last minute, giving me advice on what to see, how to get there, and how much time and money to spend. Fantastic experience; if I ever return to Aswan, I will go there again. I recommend it to everyone.

Cool Brick Dome Ceiling and View of the Nile

We stayed here 3 nights and it was very nice. The brick dome ceiling we so cool and our view looking to the west bank across the Nile was unforgettable. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Can easily walk around the island or take a ferry to either bank. Recommended.

Great experience

The owner is a lovely person from whom you can ask directions to go and visit the wonders of the place. There is a very nice panoramic terrace on the Nile where you can have a coffee and spend some time admiring the river.
You can also dine there just ask the owner.
There is a public ferry that goes back and forth from the city to Elephantine Island at a cost of ten Egyptian pounds but if you need to get to the airport early in the morning and do not want to risk it you can ask the owner for a ride with motor boat and taxi.
The price is fair and you should not waste time and patience haggling with all taxi drivers.
The property is well maintained and the rooms clean.

Excellent

Fantastic experience. A breathtaking view and a beautiful room on the quiet and cozy elephantine island. What makes this place remarkable though is the availability and kindness of the family running it. Also very good price/quality ratio. Truly an amazing place.

Nile island escape

After a hectic few days in Cairo, Meshra Ketto was a perfect change of pace. Situated on Elephantine island, a quick motor boat from the main city Aswan. The island itself isn’t very touristy, though the hotel has beautiful water views and the locals are welcoming and kind. We also recommend eating at Cafe Jamaica for a good meal!
The hotel is easily accessible as long as you communicate Mohammad, he is extremely accommodating will take good care of you. If you are interested in exploring the near by Nubian village or any near by temples he can organise it for you for cheap!
