Stay that can be recommended by 10 Jyder on tour.

Halleluj Ballum slusekro. Thank you for a really good experience with Jer. Both rooms and food were tip top. A really good choice when traveling with friends. Also the service of the young girls was at the top. After a good night's sleep there was also a good breakfast table which was nice to stand up to.

Nice little hotel with very good restaurant

On our trip to Denmark this year we stopped for a few days at the former lock master's residence - the Hotel Ballum Slusekro. The hotel is a bit older, but nice and well-kept. From there it is only a 10-minute drive to the island of Romo. The rooms are a bit small, but clean and comfortable.
The food in the restaurant is very good and the price/performance ratio is OK. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful.

Excellent out-of-the-way hotel/restaurant but worth of a stay

This hotel is really away from the maddening crowd. It sits alone along the EuroVelo bike path and a two
lane “not very busy” highway . However don’t be put off by the location. This truly is a great small hotel/restaurant. Great clean and bright rooms look out toward the North Sea . The place shows pride of ownership and desire to provide an excellent night’s lodging . The place is definitely older but very well maintained with a very friendly staff and a really pleasant and cozy on-site restaurant.
Excellent dinner served at reasonable price point . Good breakfast was included in the cost of the lodging .
Excellent covered secure bicycle parking . All in all a great break for the night in a quite remote location .
Definitely will stop again on our next bike adventure along the North Sea .

Gem of a restaurant in the marshes of Southern Jutland, Denmark

Delightful small restaurant nestled just behind Ballum sluse, on the way to the Wadden Sea island of Romo. The restaurant specialises in home cooked local dishes and is well worth a visit. We had the locally caught plaice - pan fried with lemon and drawn butter, served with local new potatoes and chargrilled vegetables. Delicious! A glass of the local Fuglesang pilsner was the perfect match for the fish. Our sons had Sluseburgers and fries - served in a home baked bun - one with Sauce Bearnaise, the other with brown onion gravy, beetroot and a fried egg. They loved them! For dessert - what better than a homemade rhubarb trifle in port, topped with fresh cream. I can only say that this restaurant - albeit a little off the beaten track - is definitely worth visiting and great value.

Hyggeligt ophold

Hyggelig kro ved Ballum Sluse. Vi var på ophold og boede på Værelse 3, et lidt trangt værelse med et udmærket badeværelse og udsigt ud over Ballummarsken. Velfungerende wifi. Kroen serverer gode, solide danske retter. Morgenmaden varierede i kvalitet. To ud af 3 morgener fik vi serveret lunken yoghurt med udblødt müsli samt boller, der ville have vundet en del ved at være lunede. Morgenmaden var bedst den sidste morgen, hvor yoghurten var frisk og kold, bollerne lune og æggene var scramblede frem for æggekage. I nærheden af kroen er der en seværdig udstilling om lokalområdet. Ballum sluse ligger lige bagved kroen, er en gåtur værd.
