Too far from town

Whilst the apartment was quite good and spacious and the bed quite ok, it is just too far to walk from the town/harbour area. It is 1.75km and very steep uphill all the way from the town centre. With bags and the heat, it becomes very difficult. Going down takes about 10 mins. Yes, the owners with very little English helped where they could and were pleasant, everything had a price attached and I was not happy to hear you would be charged to leave the AC on during the day.
At night we couldn't even see where to get a taxi and Uber does not exist. I would only recommend this place if you have a car/motor scooter.

Lovely stay

Great apartment, very clean with good amenities. Host was lovely, very sweet and kind. Only downside is the walk up the hill to get to the apartment. Only takes about 15/20 mins but in the heat with bags is quite difficult. Down hill back towards the town is much easier and only takes 10 mins. There is a hidden beach only 5 mins away but down a rocky hill. A bit tricky to get to but worth it! Great for younger travellers

bedbugs.

we stayed there on august. we found bedbugs in one of the rooms the second night, LOTS OF THEM. owners weren't cooperative at all, at the beginning it seemed like they were (they cleaned our clothes and towels that were on the bed and could be contaminated... but I mean, that's for granted!). then they clearly tried to accuse us that it was us who brought the bedbugs, which is clearly untrue and offensive. they charged us only one night, not two, even if they should have charged us none in my opinion. they made us pay in cash, and then told the site through which we had booked the apartment that we didn't show up, so that we couldn't leave any negative comment there. this really scared us, because we recieved an email from the website saying that since we didn't show up, we would have had to pay the entire amount of our staying (first night, for which we had already pay, second night, when we found the bedbugs, and third night, which we had booked but decided to not sleep there because of the bedbugs). we contacted repeadetly the host (only the son speaks some kind of english), but he always treated us badly during our calls to understand what was going on. in the end we didn't pay more, but we had a good scare, a terrible staying and our last days in hvar weren't relaxing at all - imagine trying to find a room for 4 people in hvar in august in just one day!!!! ah, last thing: we told them that they had to disinfest the room, but they really didn't want to do it, all that they cared was to find someone new to occupy the room. i was really shocked. yes it is also far from the centre as most people say here

Very unpleasant stay

Very disappointed with our stay here, we are a young couple and were looking forward to our three nights in hvar. We feel our accomadation tainted our overall experience of hvar .
1- villa Vera is a half hour well over 2km , uphill walk through a building site , steep steps etc from hvar. This walk was excruciating in 30 degree heat. The only other option besides walking was to rent out a scooter for 80euro a day, or getting an overpriced taxi = 100 kn or a shuttle bus "provided by villa Vera = 100 kn very overpriced!!!
2. The owners had very little English and had no willingness to help. Our door was knocked on rudely on the last morning of our stay at two minutes to ten before checkout, we felt this was unnecessary and rude.
3. Our sheets and room wasn't made up at all during our stay. We received no fresh towels during our stay. There was a smell from the tiny cramped toilet.
4. The room was in disrepair and seemed like an unfinished botched job. Broken curtain rail, exposed wiring and pipes, old tv with no English channels, well worn sheets and towels etc. mini kitchen very basic not practical or useable!!!
I cannot understand how it has received some of the more positive ratings. This was not a three star and was not worth the €80+ a night. Completely overpriced and we feel robbed!!!
Please take our advice and find accomadation that is more central.

Lovely people, but completely overpriced

We feel bad making a bad review of villa Vera because the people who run it are nothing short of friendly and lovely.
The positives of this place are the people, the massage service, the deck and the view.
The negatives, however, certainly outweigh the positives, particularly when you take the cost of the villa into consideration. We have been traveling for some time now and have come accustomed to paying quite a bit for accommodation. However, when we pay a lot we also expect a certain level of comfort.
To begin, there appeared to be a lack of attention to detail. For example, there was no plug for the kitchen sink, no spatchula, and no real cooking utensils. Although it seems small, when you pay for an apartment with a kitchen you would expect these basics. In addition, there were only sheets on the bed. Of which, over a 5 night stay did not get changed. This might suffice if we weren't paying a lot per night. The other bed linen looked old, and 'well used'. We also do not think our towels were changed during our stay.
The lack of attention to detail could also be said about the apartment as a whole which appeared unfinished with numerous pipes/plumbing coming out of the walls and floors. This would be particularly bad for young children.
The actual size of the apartment was good. There was a big bedroom and dining area and a lovely deck. However, this contrasted to the tiny bathroom and even smaller kitchenette. In fact, the bathroom also appeared unfinished as the shower hose did not connect to the wall, making it very difficult to use.
Finally, it appeared that there was a cost associated with everything, even being charged if you leave the A/C on during the day when you are out. When you consider the very steep walk from Hvar to Villa Vera and the extremely high heat there this is a real negative.
Like we said, we do feel bad giving a negative review as the people could not have been nicer. However, we do feel this is overpriced and there is a lot of room for improvement. To charge high prices a certain quality must be associated.
