Decent hotel, but costs 1 RMB to use the soap!

This is a reasonably clean and comfortable hotel well located across from the new campus of Central South University. The bed is comfortable and the breakfast is not bad! But we couldn't get over being changed for using the soap that was supplied in the bathroom! I've never been charged to use soap at even the lowest end of the most budget hotels! Amazing.

Good hotel close to Universities

Look it's the middle of China, there's no english language tv and it looks a little tired, but this hotel is actually very good by local standards and at around 4ooRMB for an executive room it's good value.
Breakfast is Chinese style, as is the evening restaurant.
There are shops to buy booze, fags and stationary. English is spoken a little, but if you remember your twenty phrases of Putonhua it'll go a long way.
I enjoyed my overnight stay.

Nice hotel in Changsha

Stayed in Foresoaring Hotel for a conference in May. Rooms are spacious and well decorated. Bright with nice floor-to-ceiling windows (and good curtains and window screen!). Bed was firm but very comfortable for me. Overall, a nice, typical hotel in China. You get what you pay for (little bit more expensive, but a "higher end" hotel).
Nice seemingly authentic location, with a chance to wander around a typical area of Changsha and enjoy local street food and vendors. Street is a bit noisy, but you're right across from Central South University campus with a great chance to go for peaceful walks in the morning and evening along their lake.
Downsides: people walk around smoking in the hotel, but the room itself seemed to be smoke-free. Toilet pipes started to smell after a few days, not sure why, and shower leaked. Hotel staff didn't seem to speak English (only one staff member did), so some trouble communicating about issues with toilet paper and kettle. Staff don't change dishes (teacups) everyday, but they do change towels. Daily room service seems minimal (perhaps typical in China?). A/C worked pretty well in room, but other areas of the hotel were quite warm during hot days (esp. dining hall). Internet Wi/Fi was available in the room and in common areas, yet sometimes quite slow and it didn't work well for me.
Breakfast includes a Chinese noodle soup service and various other things. No Western breakfast, but otherwise a lot of variety of not-great, but not-too-bad food. Coffee there is terrible!
Funny thing, I didn't use any of the charged items in the room, but at the end they charged me 1 Yuan for using the little bar of handsoap!

Very good hotel with nice location

I spent eight days in the Foresoaring Hotel in Changsha as a visitor of the Central South University (CSU). The Hotel is very good and its location is nice. Across the street is the new campus of the CSU, with several departments and library. Department which I visited is stil at the old campus, but the new one will be bilt in a few years. The Yangtze River is in walking distance from the Hotel, with the nice island, which I visited. Rooms in the Hotel are large, clean and comfortable, with nice view at the new campus of CSU. Air condition worked properly, which was important because of hot weather for a few days. Breakfast was very good and included in the price, mostly with Chinese food, which I liked. There is also a very good fish restaurant in the Hotel. There was also Chinese massage, specially foot massage, which was excellent. The staff was good, friendly and helpful, but for some of them English was not so good. I had the opportunity to visit Chairman Mao's home town, which is not so far from Changsha, and it is very nice and interesting to see. Finally, I can recommend Foresoaring Hotel to future visitors as a very good one with nice location.
