Ok BUT.....
Beautiful location, but absolutely not worth the price
We stayed in the Headlands building and, unfortunately, our experience was very disappointing considering the price and the expectations we had.
We booked our stay almost a full year in advance, yet we were given a room directly above the kitchen. Our “view” was mainly of the kitchen roofs, with only a tiny glimpse of the ocean hidden behind the trees. The so-called balcony was barely large enough for one person to stand on. For a property in this price category, this was extremely disappointing.
To be fair, there are some genuinely beautiful aspects of Middle Beach Lodge. The beach is incredibly close and absolutely stunning. The shared lounge is rustic, cozy and beautifully designed, and the view from its terrace is breathtaking. There is also a small restaurant and a bar.
But unfortunately, that is where the positives ended for us.
Considering how isolated Middle Beach Lodge is by foot and how little there is within walking distance, we found the opening hours very disappointing. The restaurant closes at 8:30 p.m. and the bar at 10 p.m. What surprised us even more was that at 10 p.m. we were also asked to leave the lounge. Why can guests not simply stay there quietly, enjoy the atmosphere, play a board game or have a conversation after the bar closes? Being asked to leave exactly at 10 p.m. felt completely at odds with the cozy lodge experience the property seems to advertise.
The service was another major disappointment. The property appears to be staffed predominantly by students or very young adults, and unfortunately, the level of professionalism often reflected that. At reception, Shae was the exception — she was very competent, professional and helpful. Some of the other staff barely acknowledged or greeted guests and seemed more interested in their phones.
Breakfast felt more like a cafeteria than a hotel in this price range. Tables were often not cleaned, so guests had to clear or wipe them themselves. The small buffet frequently ran out of items, and replenishing them could take a long time. Guests are also expected to clear their own dishes.
The bar service was probably the biggest disappointment. At times, the attitude was horrible, felt dismissive and gave us the impression that staff simply wanted to finish their shift rather than provide hospitality. Again, there was one very positive exception: Dean was genuinely friendly, attentive and professional, and we appreciated his service.
Middle Beach Lodge has an absolutely beautiful natural setting and enormous potential. Unfortunately, beautiful surroundings alone are not enough to justify the prices. When paying for a lodge experience, we expect not only a beautiful location, but also professional hospitality, appropriate service standards and facilities that match the price.
Sadly, we will not be returning, and we have also informed our travel agency about our experience.

Excellent location, good accomodation, but room for improvement
Location is excellent, close a sandy beach, nice views, and not that far from Tofino, quiet area, all good. We are three, so we booked a "Deluxe One Bedroom Suites with Ocean View", that means a King bed in one room and a queen hide-a-bed in the living room. All clean, well equiped, but then it gets crampy, ... moving freely around gets difficult.
The lounge in the main building looks amazing and the views are breathtaking. Waauw.
But the restaurant needs an upgrade. Very limited dinner and the breakfast is also very limited. This can be better.
Staff is very friendly and helpfull.

Disappointment and it’s clear why
Owner has checked out. No one running the place. Great location. Poor service because lack of management and training. Tried to get a sandwich at 1:30 (lunch was supposedly open until 2p), and staff looked at watch like we were aliens. And then had the balls to ask for us to pay in advance so they could “close out for lunch.” Clueless.

Pacific Rim experience
We returned this year, 20 years after our last visit. The location is literally perched above a beach and a rocky headland with uninterrupted views of the ocean. Totally relaxing, with a choice of room or unit styles. Pay more for a view or more space but every option has the same access to the lodge buildings and surroundings.
A simple European style continental breakfast is included on a serve your self basis, along with free coffee all day .
MBL is the perfect way to enjoy the natural attractions of Tofino, away from the buzz of the town.
