Good for a few nights in St John’s

My wife and I spent two nights at this hotel as part of a fly-drive vacation in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland.
Our room was comfortable and spacious overlooking the waterfront with all of the amenities we needed, although we were a little unnerved by a big air conditioning outlet positioned in the ceiling directly above the pillows on our bed!
A continental breakfast was provided but we thought this was disappointing with a limited choice of items and no hot food.
The hotel is conveniently located overlooking the waterfront and with good access to all the shops, bars and restaurants which are all within walking distance.
Car Parking was available at the front of the hotel.
A comfortable and convenient choice for a few nights stay in St John’s.

The hotel was nice but for the price they should have security in their parking lot. This is downtown St. John's on the waterfront. A vehicle was broken into in their parking lot. There is no security or no cameras.

Location great, rest mediocre

Location was GREAT! We walked to restaurants over our two day stay. Staff was friendly. Room was nice. Bathroom exquisite. However, shower knobs not working well and room temperature could not be regulated. Left sign on door for clean up at 9 am , when we returned at 4 it still was not done.

This was our favourite hotel ever! So happy we stayed here

We chose to stay at Murray Premises because it is an historic hotel. It’s not a run of the mill ‘modern’ hotel which I have seen enough of to last a lifetime. It’s a former warehouse built in 1846 and since turned into a 69 room hotel.
We stayed 4 nights in a standard king room on the second floor and were given a quiet room as requested. Water St and George St are just up the hill and with all the bars and restaurants I imagine some rooms would be a bit noisy. We took the elevator to get to our room ( didn’t notice anything wrong with it) but used the stairs the rest of our visit. Our room was huge, not like the tight spaces in modern hotels. Lots of storage space, a gas fireplace, A/C worked great, good lighting, Keurig coffee maker, fridge but no microwave. Bathroom was huge with wonderful toiletries. There is a jetted tub but we are shower people.
We had complimentary breakfast each morning in a cute room off the lobby and I was very pleased with the selection. I had yogurt, oatmeal, juice and mandarin oranges and he had muffins or croissant, oranges and coffee. I was glad to not see powdered eggs, dried up overcooked sausages and bacon which tend to be usual fare in motel chains. It was nice to eat what we would eat at home.
We were warmly greeted every time we saw staff members, very happy with the free surface parking lot, everything was very clean and we had no problems at all. We wish every hotel had the charm and character of Murray Premises.

Murray Premises is a beautiful, historic property. We stayed twice over the two weeks of our Newfoundland trip. Both of our rooms were lovely, with original oak beams and stonework and well-renovated baths. Great, helpful staff.
