Look no further. Seriously.

My wife gave me a birthday present of a wine tasting tour in the Penticton area. We stayed here and simply loved it — so much so that any time in the future when we come back we will definitely stay here. The grounds are immaculate. There is a crew of dedicated workers who keep every area spotlessly clean. The pool area has a great summer vibe, and, right next door, is a restaurant that will deliver food and beverages to you wherever you are located. Talk about a terrific place to holiday!

Lovely pool area, extra things like fire pits, courtyard facing properties. Good house keeping, clean rooms. Not too rowdy but good atmosphere and kid friendly.
Would go again.

Great place for families

Staff is amazing. Place is well maintained and clean.
Pool, hot tube, games, barbecue area is a huge plus.
There was complete darkness for sleep.
Gym room is very small and only had free weights.

Room was clean and hotel was quiet - good break away for 3 nights. Close to all the activities we wanted to do but needed a car - could be walkable but is on a main road.

Good location and good facilities

We have a family vacation every year in Penticton and have stayed at other family friendly properties in Pentiction.
These properties include chain hotels, motels on the strip and the resort hotel.
There are usually 3-4 families that vacation together.
This year, we decided to try Balcomo.
For the most part, we found the stay enjoyable and can recommend Balcomo to others.
The PROS of this property are:
Nice, renovated rooms which are spacious.
The beds and bedding are comfortable.
Excellent pool area with hot tub, cold plunge and sauna. The pool area is large and spacious. Better than most properties we have stayed at.
The BBQ area is great with a meal prep area and bathroom. This makes it so much easier than having to carry and prepare your dinner in your room and then carry over to cook on the bbq.
The staff for the most part are friendly and helpful. We compliment the check in staff for calling us once we got settled, to make sure everything was good. This is the first time that has ever happened and was very much appreciated.
The location is just off the beach which is great. It is one of the first properties as you enter town. There is no noise from the highway which is great. The rooms have great soundproofing.
The pricing is competitive and cheaper than similar properties with similar facilities.
The courtyards are well kept with comfortable patio furniture.
The restaurant on site has great service, happy hours, and will serve poolside!
CONS:
Apparently, the hotel enforces an 11pm curfew.
We like to sit out on the patio/courtyard in the evenings and socialize with the family. The night clerk, Catherine advised us on multiple nights that we have to go indoor at 11 pm. This isnt really practical for the families to all sit in a room.
We are not loud and in fact the A/C units are much louder.
We also had kids in the rooms who confirmed they could not hear us sitting on the patio outside the room.
Catherine also confirmed that there were no noise complaints but that we still had to go inside. She suggested if we wanted to sit outside on a nice evening, to go to the beach, which is also quite impractical.
We were also advised the reception area is open 24 hours, but were denied entry to use the bathroom, and had to walk all the way to the tower room to go to the bathroom.
It is important to note that most patios for the rooms can only seat two people, so the only way to socialize is to sit in the courtyard.
The stupidity of this policy is that the restaurant patio is open to 12, so why are we only allowed to sit out until 11. Maybe they want us to spend more money at the restaurant?
Given that the main purpose of our visit is to get together with our families, we are not sure whether we will come back. Its too bad, because overall, our experience was positive, and this one thing makes it difficult to return.

First and foremost, I am truly sorry, and quite embarrassed by how this situation was handled during your stay.
You were correct. Our quiet hours do not mean that guests are required to leave their patios or the courtyard at 11:00 p.m. Guests are absolutely welcome to continue enjoying these spaces as long as noise is kept to a respectful level. From what you described, there were no noise complaints, and you should not have been told that you needed to go inside or go to the beach.
You also should not have been denied access to the lobby washroom. Our lobby is available to our registered guests overnight.
Our courtyard and outdoor spaces are a big part of what we want families to enjoy at The Balcomo, which makes this particularly disappointing. You chose to spend your family vacation with us, and being able to sit outside together in the evening is a completely reasonable expectation.
Our General Manager has addressed this directly with the team member involved, and we have also reinforced the correct quiet-hours expectations with our Front Desk team so that this is handled properly moving forward.
I really appreciated that despite this experience, you took the time to share the things you enjoyed about the property and our team. It was clear from your review that you otherwise had a positive stay, which makes it even more unfortunate that something that should never have happened left you questioning whether you would return.
Please accept my sincere apology on behalf of our team. I hope this experience doesn’t prevent you and your families from considering The Balcomo again.
