Has potential to be really lovely with a few changes.

Pros
Anne Sophie is a lovely host and very helpful about places to visit and eat.
The breakfast is very good, coffee, juice, fresh fruit and eggs for $7.50.
The bar/cafe area is nice and right by the river.
The environment in nature is very calming and relaxing.
The bed is comfortable and we appreciated the ceiling and additional floor fan
Cons
Barking dogs during the night led to very disturbed sleep
The cabanas felt a bit unloved and are very basic
They don’t provide toilet paper for ‘eco’ reasons. What would make a much bigger impact would be to provide water refills as most ‘eco’ places do.

Deplorable welcome: a shame

If Anne-Sophie saves (a little) appearance with her warm welcome and her involvement for breakfast, our end of stay ended badly (it is very rare that I put bad marks on hotels and I have been traveling for several years). Certainly the accommodations are rather level and the view from the terrace is very nice. The real problem here is the owner, Antonin – a deeply unpleasant, unstable person, and clearly unfit to run a public-friendly establishment.
After a simple disagreement about the price of a scooter (we could have settled this story calmly, there was nothing to get upset about), he started screaming like crazy, in front of other customers and his young child. A scene of mind-blowing verbal violence, totally out of place when I didn’t raise the tone. An angry outburst from a man unable to handle the slightest annoyance.
At no time did he seek calm discussion or respect. It is an aggressive individual, which creates an anxious climate as soon as it is present.
This behavior seemed usual: throughout the stay, we saw him speak harshly to his partner, Anne Sophie , and her child. It is a heavy, disturbing and deeply unhealthy atmosphere.
In addition to that, there are several defects in this hotel:
No hot water in the cabins
Cleaning non-existent, except after several days and after taking out the garbage ourselves,
No visible involvement of the "owner" (not his spouse who probably does everything in the management of the hotel).
And of course, excursions are expensive: $35 for a simple half day at the Bokor,...when everywhere else in Cambodia, you pay $30 for a real full day from 9am to 6pm.
Not to mention the exchange rate applied locally, totally abusive compared to any other city or hotel in the country.
In short, a place undermined by the toxicity of a man who simply should not be in charge of a hotel establishment. For your peace of mind, for your holidays, for your very dignity: avoid this place at all costs. There are hundreds of wonderful places in Cambodia – this one is clearly not one of them.

Horrible!

Deeply disappointed by the welcome of the owner and the on-site services (multiple malfunctions in tiny sheds where you can not even put your suitcase, dangerous electrical installation near the water point in the bathroom). Aggressive owner when we wanted to shorten our stay because the services did not suit us and no commercial gesture on his part. So we paid for four nights for just one shift. In short, to flee absolutely.
