Good skiing hotel

Overall a really good experience. If you come here expecting the Ritz then you will be disappointed but we found the hotel to be excellent value for money. The rooms are spacious, clean and everything was working well. The beds are comfortable and bedding and towels were changed everyday. The hotel has a nice swimming pool, sauna and steam room which was a nice benefit after a long day skiing. We stayed half board and found both the breakfast and dinners to be good quality home cooked food, with a nice selection of meats, vegetables, salads and desert. Again if you are expecting a high end restaurant meal then you will be disappointed but it was exactly what we were looking for. Overall for the money we paid I couldn’t fault it and would hapilly return.

Not Good

I am currently at Casa Carina and will most likely be here for the last time. I have been coming here 4–5 times since 2017; back then everything was good — varied food, clean rooms, and a warm pool. Now there is no food selection, there is no warm pool, and most importantly, the rooms are not cleaned. You cannot sleep at night because there is a lot of dust in the mattresses, which makes you cough and makes it impossible to sleep properly. This is not the Casa Carina hotel it used to be; the owner has most likely changed. Do not come here — you will be disappointed. I will never come here again. A ruined hotel.

A complete disappointment.

The impressions of treating guests are disgusting. You can kill yourself at the entrance because nobody cleans the ice and nobody fixes the carpet that sticks out.
There were no towels at the entrance to the sauna. When asked what to do, they got the answer: "bring it from your room."
The Wi-Fi is very weak. There were days when it was impossible to connect.
There was no hot water or pressure every night after six.
One day the room wasn't cleaned. It wasn't until the scandal broke that the reception did a favor and changed the towels.
And the cherry on the cake: decided to bottle water in the dining room before the tour. It's about how we yell, like she pays out of pocket for every drop of water from the cooler. Disgusting and unprofessional.

Read before booking this hotel

Upon arrival at the hotel we arrived around 10pm which was quite late check in was easy enough however the receptionist seemed to like she didn’t want to do any work!!! However cause we paid for half board she offered us some sandwiches to be brought up to the room which was nice we were on the 3rd floor and there is 1 lift which isn’t exactly the quickest the floor motion lights take a while to turn on and the corridor feels like ur in a haunted hotel!!! First impressions of the room was spacious double bed sofa wardrobe with sliding door and a good size bathroom however the bathroom is on a slope!!! There is a small fridge but there isn’t a plug socket where the fridge is so we moved the fridge to use the plug socket there is tea/coffee maker but no milk and it’s only green tea the bedroom was really warm because the heater was on unfortunately it wasn’t exactly freezing temperatures here so we turned the heater off and open the doors and window to keep the room cooler at night as it was quite stuffy there wasn’t a safe which would’ve been handy they were hangers but only a few
There is complimentary water, which was nice considering we arrive quite late at night
Breakfast is hit n miss the first day we have breakfast, which was on the Saturday morning of the 25th Jan breakfast they seem to be a lot of choices pastries hot and cold plenty of bread meats and cheeses and salads however the next time we have breakfast it seemed less limited and I had to keep asking the staff for more bread which they took their time to take out the staff do work hard and u can see that but they are so rude!! The fried eggs are Rock solid and the hot food isn’t that great if ur a tea drinker bring ur own tea bags!! I don’t think wiping the tables with a dust pan and brush is very hygienic!!! dinner in the evening was okay your usual buffet normally got cold by the time you sat down but the deserts was probably the best it does get busy at dinner starts at 7pm kids running around and pushing in really doesn’t abode with me so maybe go down to dinner abit later
The bed is very hard and we couldn’t sleep very well. The shower is hit Miss one day is scolding hot water and then cold the shower curtain is terrible and let’s water out and goes onto the floor but does go into the drain so I think it depends what time of day you have a shower. They have got a lovely tribal amenities kit which has got your usual shampoo moisturiser vanity kit shower cap which was a lovely touch.
The hotel is literally central of Bankso and only about a five minute walk to the gondola which is handy, especially when you carrying your ski equipment
The hotel can arrange your ski passes (added a pic of the prices of the ski passes) and Next Door there is also a storage place where you can leave ur ski stuff for free as you’re staying at the hotel
We didn’t do the ski pass however we just did the gondola pass which takes you up to the right to the top of the ski road that cost 50 BGN each and it’s a return ticket so you can go up and come down on the gondola however we skied down the ski road so we didn’t need to use the return ticket which seemed a bit of a waste of money but such as life
The rooms aren’t sound proof so u can hear noises and the there certainly were shouting by other guests which I wasn’t impressed
The hotel is rated 4* personally I would rate this a 2*
If ur coming here for the 1st time there r plenty of ski/snowboarding hire places look around as there r plenty of places and different prices we got our ski equipment from a little place opposite the bansko mall (closed down) very friendly ppl and much cheaper than the places in the town it’s right by the 24 hour shop
The gondola can be busy especially at the weekend so be warned u could queue for a while

Extremely disappointing

I rarely write reviews but am compelled to as the low quality of this hotel really impacted our holiday. We booked half board, a double with a camp bed. I was expecting four star, and I have an understanding of what this might look like. The room was horrible - like a hostel. Two low single beds pushed together - nothing to join them and no bed frame as such. And then a similar one in the corner. And worse - nothing between the thin sheet and the bare (thin) mattress that thousands of people had laid on. The mattress was so bobbly I could feel it through that sheet. Ditto pillow. Just felt really unhygenic. At least half the lights didn't work, the curtains didn't pull properly, electrical sockets loose, and shower curtain that was indescribable. Not a smile was cracked by reception staff - ever. My son threw up one night and when I went downstairs (about 11.30pm) to ask for a bottle of water and fresh sheets, honestly they couldn't have given less of a hoot about it. But did make sure they charged the room for the bottle of water. As there were less than 20 guests in the hotel they didn't do a buffet (lesson learned for me there to read the small print!) so you were presented with a random choice of meals with zero accompanying information - "sliced chicken", "pork", sometimes it was very unclear what the items were; "grandma's breakfast" was a memorable one. The food itself was nice (and the restaurant staff nice) but when you are travelling with younger children its nice to know if something is coming swimming in a mushroom sauce, for example. Zero green vegetables the whole time. And not a clue about nut allergies. Every time I mentioned it we got a blank look. I appreciate I don't speak Bulgarian but it was hard to ask questions about the food as their English was limited. Very disappointing and well below even a 3 star standard.
