Hotel Takana - Very Quiet A Great place to rest before go down or Up River

After so many times sleeping at the Takana Hotel I've decided to make some comments about the place.
Normally travelers going up or down the Amazon River (Solimoes - Brazilian name of the Amazon River right after the Peru & Colombian boarder) Were always recommended to stay in Colombia than in Brazil because of the low quality of the hotels available in Brazil, this is NOT 100% truth unless you REALLY need a top quality hotel ( There is only one in the area the Decameron in Colombia - That is NOT quite a 5 ***** BUT an OK 4***** with the price of a 5 *****
The Takana has a great location specially IF you'll need only one overnight price is OK (around U$D 35-45) has a great breakfast (Don't Miss IF you can), Super Quiet & Safe
Only 10 minutes away from the Brazilian airport and about 15/20 minutes away from the Colombian airport in Leticia, Accept credit cards ...
Upon request they can serve you a good & Good deal dinner even IF you are an individual traveler.

Tankfull of issues

Airport is close by. Staffs are nice. But where the issues are, this hotel tanks. Food, breakfast, air con, wi-fi all bad. A true backpacker can tolerate, others can't. Lacentia is just round the corner. Stay there.

Average- but very good for the area

Amazing decor and great staff. Area is typical for Tabatinga (dont expect much).
The hotel is decorated vividly and is clean, quite and good value.
Choices at the restaurant were limited, but that is to be expected with limited patrons.
Definitely would stay and eat there again.

Don not stay here, go a few km further to Leticia

Hotel Takana is the only ressonable hotel in Tabatinga on the Brazilian side.
However it hás little to nothing to offer. Bad internet, bad restaurant, no swimming pool, badly located.
For all good reasons go 2 km further, cross the totally open border with Colombia (you can cross whenever and as much as you want, no control of papers) and stay in the much neater centre of Leticia for instance in the Waria Suite or Anaconda hotel. The Decameron hotel is beautiful as well but bad service and burocratic.
Best ceviches as well.

We spoiled ourselves being here

Very nice and clean hotel at the Brazilian site of the "tres fronteiras de Amazonas". Normaly a above our budget room but while waiting for 4 days on a slow boat, we liked to spoil ourselves. And its really worth it. Big clean room and a very nice breakfast. A buffet with lost of choices. And a fridge at our toom made it a perfect place for us.
