A historic building dated from 1909. Located in the heart of the Historic Center of Petrópolis, just a few meters from various tourist attractions, Grão Pará is just 20 metres from Matriz do Rosário church.

Very nice and safe place. Great Breakfast and all over all Service. Restaurant is very good and affordable.

Needs updating, take ear plugs and a eye cover
The hotel was very worn out and is in need of general care/upkeep. The shower has mildew in the corners as well as different grout colors. The vent fan in the shower was full of caked on dust. The room has no blackout shade and there is light all night long from the street light as well as sunlight in the early morning.
The noise was unbearable all day and night long. It was very difficult to sleep. There are buses and trucks with loud high-pitched beeping sounds when they are in reverse or noise if unloading loading vehicles, as well as motorcycles and cars going by. This is all time of day and night, non stop! You can hear someone’s full conversation as well. No insulation whatsoever. Also, the door to the unit has cracks in the door frame, so anyone can stand on the outside and just look right into your room through the crack. They need to add insulation strips to their unit doors for privacy to cover the light that shines through the cracks of your unit door and you can hear every single person opening and closing their door and walking by or speaking, as well as in their own rooms through your front door. The only problems were with the actual hotel upkeep itself,
The staff was great as well as the breakfast. The amenities however are also worn down. All the games area like billiards need to be replaced, badly work out and can not be played properly.

I also witnessed a hotel worker painting some walls there in the hallways in morning but when I went back at night I took a look and laughed at how sloppy It was done. Paint dripped and splattered onto the baseboards below, I could not believe they were trying to make improvements but looks like they are making It worst instead.
I do like to mention though the staff was excellent. Nothing was wrong with the staff. They were friendly, courteous and professional. The front desk was nice. Staff at the breakfast were hard working and our room was made up and cleaned very well by the housekeeper daily.

Good breakfast, very friendly staff. Leisure area was nice but hot tube and pool looks like needed be cleaned and had lots of bleach and chemicals. Bedrooms needs a makeover, very old building. Missed cupboards and hangers to organize clothes.

A nice hotel in a nice city
It does not look much from the outside, but going in I had the feeling that I stepped in to a hotel in Austria or Bavaria. A lot of wood(work) on the floors and walls. Rooms where clean, comfortable, shower and breakfast where OK. They speak English at the reception. The hotel is at the square adjacent to the bus station (Rodoviaria centro).
