Pleasant and careful with love for D. Adília

Very nice, simple and functional. Dona Adília is the most pleasant and intelligent person I met in the region. Despite the old furniture, it looks good. Simple but healthy breakfast. Sturdy beds, but some make spring noises.

Like a beautiful journey back in time

As soon as you step into this family-run hotel, it feels like being back in the middle of the last century. This is how tourism in Brazil has once been! The furniture, the hospitality, the music that is played - everything is old-fashioned, but in a very positive way. The rooms are very clean and offer all you need, and the furniture is in a colonial style and very well maintained. The location of the hotel is superb - in the middle of town and opposite the entrance to the "Parque das Aguas".
Try to have dinner here as well - it is at a very economic price! The four course dinner (soup, first course, second course as well as cheese/dessert) is offered at the rate of 22 Reais (11 US$), a caipirinha at 5 Reais (2.50 US$). The food is tasty and gets served in front of guests, while old walz music can be heard in the background. Dinner here is delicious and it's hard to beat this excellent price/service ratio!
Threre is free WiFi available in the lobby. Furthermore, there is free guarded parking as well as free coffee all day long.
If you want to make sure you have a quiet night, ask for a room facing the courtyard. The rooms toward the street are brighter but can be a bit noisy at night.
Caxambu is an ideal night stop if you're travelling on the Estrada Real, the colonial-era road between Paraty and Ouro Preto / Diamantina. Don't miss the Parque das Aguas, where you can drink from different mineral water sources. The water is said to have healing powers!

Great location, nice staff, but too much noise during the night

I stayed there during a conference. The hotel was located within 2 blocks from the conference main site, so I gave it a try. And I was quite lucky.
It's a family business, and the owners are there all the time to make sure you are confortable and everything is ok. This is a great deal, as they will tell you about the city, places to go and share some good time just chating.
The hotel is conveniently located near the water park (across the street) and it is only 10 minutes away from the bus stop. You can save some bucks and do some sightseeing while walking from the bus stop to the hotel as you get to the city. I did and I actually liked it.
The property is also close (too close actually) to a street with bars and shops. As I got a room facing that street I had some noise during the night that annoyed me. It was a Wednesday night and The noise lasted until 4 in the morning. Then, a bakery started its business, so I think I got something like an hour of silence. As I stayed only for the night it didn't bother me that much but it may be troublesome if you are going to spend some days there.
The food was great. Ihad breakfast, lunch and dinner at the hotel and i was pretty pleased. Go for the goiabada and the doce de leite. They rock!

Razoável

Vou sempre a cidade visitar minha tia. Fiquei pela 1 vez nesse hotel localizado a metros do parque, que não fui,pois deram para cobrar entrada. O hotel é tombado pelo patrimônio histórico e não pode ser reformado, o que precisa urgentemente, como colocarem TV a cabo.Um abraço para dona Adília e Chayene,a bela recepcionista.

Arrependimento

Somente a localização conta como atrativo, apesar da maioria dos hotéis estarem próximos uns dos outros. O café da manhã é péssimo, a limpeza dos quartos horrível. Me arrependo muito de ter optado pir esse hotel. Há pessoas que avaliam bem. Cada um tem uma opinião e a minha é que não valeu a pena.
