A place like few others

Stunningly located on the slopes of the Großes Walsertal, this venue is a place to relax, slow down and enjoy views of the surrounding countryside and, perhaps, also inside yourself. With nice walks nearby, a herbal garden, church and museum, choices are manifold. The rooms, though, impeccably clean and with pleasant hickory paneling, are rather small . With luggage and a four-legged companion - well received by the hosts, btw - this can create a feeling of lack of space, especially if you have booked for a longer stay.

Empfehlenswerte Adresse

Bei einem Vorarlberg-Urlaub ist auch ein Besuch von St. Gerold im Großen Walsertal empfehlenswert. Abgesehen vom Bildungsbereich lohnt sich auch ein Restaurant-Besuch für Tagesgäste: die Küche ist hervorragend, das Service ausgesprochen freundlich, das holzbetonte und damit warme Ambiente im Restaurant wirkt sehr sympathisch. Last but not least ist ein Besuch der Kirche und des Friedhofs- und zwar unabhängig von der persönlichen Weltanschauung - ein Must, wenn man diese Propstei aufsucht.

Ein toller Ort

Wir durften eine tolle Gastfreundschaft erleben. Die Unterkunft bietet einiges unter anderem auch einen schönen Weg über das Gelände. Von hier aus kann man auch verschiedene Ausflüge machen. Die neuen Zimmer mit dem vielen Holz sind toll und modern. Wir kommen sicher wieder...

Wo Himmel und Erde sich begegnen.

Ein Ort Abseits von Elektronik und Unruhe. Er lädt zum Ruhen und zur Selbstfindung ein. Historisch und kulturell ein wunderschönes Kleinod.
Im Herzen des österreichischen Bundeslandes Vorarlberg liegt der UNESCO-Biosphärenpark Grosses Walsertal. Am Eingang dieses landschaftlich intakten, alpinen Hochtales trifft man inmitten von Wiesen und Wäldern, Bergen und rauschenden Bächen auf die zum Benediktinerkloster Einsiedeln in der Schweiz gehörende und auf 850 m Höhe gelegene Propstei St. Gerold, deren Gründung nach der Legende auf die Mitte des 11. Jahrhunderts zurückgeht. (Text: Probstei)
Die Propstei St. Gerold ist eine Filialniederlassung des Klosters Einsiedeln. Grund und Boden besitzt das Benediktinerkloster in der Schweiz in Vorarlberg seit dem 10. Jahrhundert. Die Propstei St. Gerold gehört seit dem 13. Jahrhundert nachweislich zu Einsiedeln. (Text Probstei)
Mit einem früher umstrittenen, wundervollem Chorfresko von Ferdinand Gehr (Altstätten). Welches einem das Herz öffnet und das frei sein vor Gott erlaubt.
Die Restauration war vielfältig und wertvoll und lässt keine Wünsche offen. Ebenso die grossartige Weinkarte.
Kinder sind jederzeit willkommen und sicherlich interessiert und spannend zu beschäftigen.
