Old cabin but very clean and comfortable. We had a choice of old or new cabin, were very happy with the old. Nice and roomy, could easily have stayed longer. Very picturesque, just a pity the weather was wet. Would definitely go back

Disgusting

We booked a 1 bedroom unit at this caravan park online. Everything looks OK online! On arrival we found the units were part of a 1960s wooden complex and in my opinion they are derelict and unfit for habitation by tourists. The unit smelt musty and old, the fridge smelt of fish and the Glade oil air freshener in the room looked as old as the room itself and was having no affect. We had better beds and linen in the Nullabor roadhouses we have recently stayed in. There was no aircon, only a portable heater and the tiny TV was positioned such that you couldn't watch it from either the bed or the couch. I haven't seen a kitchen like this since I was a child in the 1960s.
We basically walked away from it. We knew we wouldn't get a refund but the staff person we spoke to offered no apology for the state of the units and there was no offer of even one night's money back. We drove around the rest of the property before leaving and found a general lack of maintenance and care throughout. Outbuildings are old and basically falling apart. There are very few trees in the caravan park which is surprising given that Walpole's claim to fame is its tree tourism.
In their defence, there are new units under construction at the moment so hopefully they are starting some sort of improvement plan. At the moment though, they need to take the units and I suspect the A frames off the market. As our first stop in Walpole, this experience soured our whole attitude about the place and I think it is a very poor advertisement for Walpole.

Hi jennys371,
Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We are genuinely sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations, and we understand your disappointment after arriving and deciding not to stay.
Our older one-bedroom units are part of the original accommodation at the park, and we acknowledge that they are dated. They are not intended to be presented as modern accommodation, and we are progressively investing in improvements and new accommodation across the property. However, we are disappointed to hear that the condition and presentation of the unit fell short of what you expected.
We would also like to acknowledge the efforts of our housekeeping team, who work tirelessly to clean and prepare the units for every arrival. We take cleanliness and guest comfort seriously, so we are particularly concerned by your comments about the musty smell and the fridge and will follow these matters up with our team.
We are sorry, too, that you did not feel your concerns were adequately acknowledged when you raised them with us. We appreciate your feedback and will use it to identify areas where we can do better.
We hope that the improvements currently underway, including our new accommodation, will provide a much better experience for future guests.
Kind regards
Walpole Rest Area Caravan Park Team

One night stay in old style cabin

Booked 2 bedroom cabin in April with Kylie. We had to drive up a muddy alternate route through a construction site. Whilst the old style cabin had our basic needs there were workmen and trucks around our cabin - they started at 7:30am. On checkout Nicole was very apologetic and I requested compensation and asked why we weren’t advised of this situation at the time of booking. Glad we only stayed one night on the 17/8/26. The new cabins in front of ours look good so wait until they are available. Also the feedback survey sent yesterday by Summerstar didn’t allow you to type in the text boxes!
The Park location is away from main township so get supplies on the way.

Good morning Julie,
Thank you for taking the time to share your detailed feedback. We’re pleased to hear that you found the cabin met your needs and that you like the look of our new cabins.
We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused by the construction works and the alternate access route during your stay. We completely understand that the early morning activity around your cabin would have been disappointing, particularly as you were not made aware of the works when booking. We appreciate your understanding while we work through this period of development, and we’re pleased to hear that Nicole was able to discuss your concerns with you at checkout.
We’re very excited about the improvements taking place at the park, and we hope you’ll consider visiting us again once the new cabins are complete. We’re confident the finished result will provide a much-improved experience for our guests.
Thank you also for highlighting the issue with our feedback survey. We’ll make sure this is passed on to the team so it can be looked into.
We really appreciate your feedback and hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future and provide you with the experience you were hoping for.
Kind regards

Would not recommend.

Poor accommodation. Absolutely freezing in the unit. Minimal heating provided. View of the inlet blocked by next door units vehicle. Horrible view of plumbing from window over kitchen sink. Bathroom very below standard. Fridge/freezer smelled of fish. Very unsatisfactory stay.

What a beautiful place to lay our heads for the night!
Great big jumping pillow for the kids and very friendly staff.
The unit we stayed in was old, but well kept.
The beds were comfy.
Location is awesome - we'll be back for sure!
Very close to the tree-top walk
