History Galore

A wonderful, very informative tour of this hotel. We learned its history and its intriguing past of visitors too in a fun environment. Well worth the money to have a guided tour from a lady who has so much information to offer. Definitely a recommendation for anyone with a few hours to spare.

Bad time in Charleville.

Never again. Dirty room, very ordinary meal at the pub. Noisy people late at night staying at the pub. Waste of money.

No Michelin Star in the Milky Way

I rated 1 because ‘0’ not an option. Was to be the highlight of our annual outback pilgrimage to Birdsville on our return - has been a highlight for us in years gone by. 15 of us booked into accommodation and for the in-house dining experience. The most underwhelming experience in living memory. The meals were problematic - a few meals arriving 2 hours after we were seated and then as a result of a third attempt at taking our orders - the rissoles were like rhinoceros hide covered in a gravy-like icing each of which took the skill of a driller to break through to what lay beneath, the charred peas that were part of the ensemble also betrayed our tastebuds. The remainder of the orders remain somewhat mystifying as they never materialised leaving us at the behest and dining pleasure of the meat pies at the local 24 hour service station. The French chef did come to apologise admitting that whilst being a certified chef he had not exercised those skills on this occasion - dining under the Milky Way and Southern Cross in the clear outback skies, there was no chance of a falling Michelin Star making an appearance.
The accommodation promised an artesian spa bath on the private balcony which we did enjoy most definitely. The “free” bottled water signed throughout the room was elusive and a further power saving feature was the hidden electric jug with which to boil it. The enticing display of tea, instant coffee and sugar was left undisturbed on our check out ready for the “find and seek” adventures that await the next guests of the room.
A disappointing end to our outback trek. Further value was obtained when I wanted to purchase the establishment adorned logo wine glasses which I was able to leave behind in the souvenir cabinet wishing to avoid any future reminder of the evenings misadventures. Our Outback Escape was aptly captured by the concept seeing the promise of an enhanced gustatory adventure escape us entirely. We would highly recommend your embracing the opportunity of avoiding Hotel Corones as part of your Charleville experience.

3rd time we’ve stayed here.

Our 3rd time at this beautiful historic old Hotel. History of this Pub is amazing, food & service is excellent and accomodation is very clean & comfortable. Stayed in one of the original upstairs rooms this time, that opened out onto the verandah…. Fantastic place to watch the sun set. Highly recommend at stay here. Prices are very reasonable.

Privacy Breached . Dirty motel room.

Bed was full of pet fur , motel was covered in pet fur . Windows did not lock and could be opened from the outside. House keeping kept coming into my room whilst I was trying to sleep I got woken up everyday by housekeeping knocking at my door then trying to let themselves in even thou I stated I did not want house keeping as I was staying 8 days and did not require house keeping. I left a night early due to my privacy being invaded and someone barging into my room while I was sleeping. Asked for my last night to be refunded and was to no avail. I would not recommend this motel as it's over priced for a motel that does not lock and staff clearly do not care about the privacy of their customers. I have stayed all around Australia in many motels and hotels and that was one of my worst experiences. The motel warrigo was the same price and 100 percent better in customer service and motel facilities. Do not support this business.
