Solid Choice

We liked this hotel . Spacious, quiet rooms with thoughtful inclusions (I particularly liked the large light up make up mirror in the bathroom). Nice gym and pool area. Great location and we had a lovely view from our 6th floor balcony. All staff we encountered were friendly & helpful. Only downside was the rather gloomy lobby area and the bar had little atmosphere… but close to lots of eateries etc so not a problem.

Spacious comfortable room in great location.

Location is excellent. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and clean, with a spa bath. If you have the choice of included breakfast, don't take it - there's better food nearby to choose from. Staff were good. I had problems with the TV in my room, otherwise the stay was good. I found he eating places associated with the hotel to be below average.

Great Place

I love this hotel. We visit every year. I would have given it 5 stars if it wasnt for the cleaning.
For 4 days nobody bothered to vacuum or change the sheets on our bed. After 4 days I said something and they finally did it.. I really shouldn't have to say anything.
Besides that I still love it. The pool area is nice and relaxing with plenty of deck chairs.

Too noisy too sleep

Whilst the room was nice the noise from a nearby band made it impossible to sleep on the Saturday night that we stayed there. The band played until 1.00am and apparently this happens every Friday and Saturday, so it is best to avoid this hotel for those nights. After complaining to management they replied that they were glad we liked the room but could not control the external noise. I get that but they should not be charging over $340.00 for a room that is not fit for purpose. The least they can do is advise guests before they stay that the noise is a problem.

A very clean spacious room. All staff friendly and helpful. Excellent breakfast with reasonably priced evening meals available. The only negative was the street noise coming from the youth of Cairns on Friday and Saturday nights through until 4:00 am. If staying on these nights see if you can get a room not facing Abbott St.
