The perfect balance
We had a wonderful birthday lunch at Raes Dining Room. Rae’s has mastered the perfect balancing act — the flavours,the service and the beautiful delivery of every course, every detail was exceptional. The scallops and spanner crab entrees were to die for!! Francesco’s warmth, professionalism and attention to detail made the experience feel incredibly personal and memorable. A stunning setting and the perfect place for a special celebration. They even brought out a b’day sparkler at the end of dessert. 10/10 experience

Disappointing and inflexible
Dinner menu is extremely inflexible and the staff were not accommodating at all, they did not seem to care about customer service . I tried to change the booking to the more casual downstairs but was told I would be charged the full $270 and I could not even change a dessert for a side salad. I have never experienced this at a restaurant before as staff are usually kind and care about your experience.
The food was amazing though , pity about the lack of kindness and generosity.
Sadly I will not return after many years of living the old Rae’s .

High End and Always Innovative Byron Dining
Quality beach view restaurant in Wategos Beach.Loved the 3 course set menu at $136pp.For starters,the Royal red prawn Crudo was super tasty.For main,the Lamb Backstrap was well prepared and filling.For dessert,try the Chocolate Delice.Good selections of wine by the glass including Frankland Estate Riesling .Attentive service by Maihilde.Always fresh ingredients and lots of innovation

Make sure you are clear about what you are booking
It is important to understand the layout of this hotel before you arrive. We had driven a very long way and were tired on arrival. The hotel is divided into two main areas - the hotel itself near the beach and the apartments which are a few minutes walk away. If you are staying at the apartments you need to arrive at 1-3 Marine Parade - this is the first house you come to with a water feature out the front - there is no signage to tell you have arrived at the right place. We struggled to find where you need to park on arrival. It is then important to understand that if you are staying at the apartments then you are supposed to have breakfast there and not in the hotel. You are supposed to use the small pool area and not at the hotel. This is not made clear in advance unless you understand the layout.
We stayed in Suite 16 which in the brochure looks out on trees. In reality it looks out over the road to the beach and then some trees above that. This should be made clear in advance to set expectations.
Having said all of that, once we had settled in, we had a lovely time. The location is beautiful - Wategos Beach is a gorgeous beach and a very relaxing place to sit and watch the surfers. The staff were very patient and helpful throughout. We had a lovely massage at the very small spa area. Apartment guests can eat dinner at the main restaurant and do not have to choose the full tasting menu. We also had a nice meal in the apartment block. The hotel provides a nice brochure listing places to visit - do check each one in advance as often they closed early or were shut. Overall we enjoyed our stay and appreciated the kindness of the staff. Just be clear about what you are booking given the very high cost.

a birthday to remember forever
WOW ! I booked Raes for my besties 60th , a night away just the 2 of us and Raes was exceptional in every way and truly memorable . from the moment we arrived and Pillar greeted us so warmly and welcoming it got better and better as the weekend went on. the level of service and boutique luxury feel is every where you turn and it truly was so very special ! would recommend to anyone and everyone ! thanks Raes for a special celebration !
