The city of Columbus is the capital of the US state of Ohio. It is the largest city and the third largest metropolitan area in Ohio. Columbus occupies a total area of 577.85 km2 and is centrally-located in the Mid-Ohio region. Its districts are the Downtown, University Area, Northwest Columbus, Northeast Columbus, and South Columbus.

Ohio Village

Ohio Village is a living history museum run by the non-profit Ohio Historical Society. Opened to the public on 1974 July 27, the village gives visitors a chance to see the way of life in Ohio during the American Civil War. The 15-acre land contains 22 buildings that are a mixture of actual historic structures moved to the site and reproductions. Buildings include the Town Hall, Education Center, a Pharmacy, Blacksmith Shop, Broom and Basket Shop, the Village Bakery, Schoolhouse, and a Market House. Entrance to the Ohio Village is through the Ohio History Center museum. Ohio Village also hosts and annual event called All Hallow's Eve, wherein Halloween is celebrated 1860s-style.

Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum

The Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum, formerly the Cartoon Research Library then the Cartoon Library & Museum, is a research library of American cartoons and comic art. The research library is affiliated with the Ohio State University library system. It contains the world's largest and most comprehensive academic research facility dedicated to the documentation and display of original and printed cartoon art, editorial cartoons, and comic strips. The museum's collection includes approximately 450,000 original cartoons, 36,000 books, 3,000 ft of manuscripts, and more. In addition, the library hosts the triennial Festival of Cartoon Art, which entails two days of lectures, exhibitions, panel discussions, and receptions for cartoonists, comic scholars, collectors, students, and other interested people.

Lifestyle Communities Pavilion

Lifestyle Communities Pavilion, formerly called Promowest Pavilion, is an indoor-outdoor concert venue. Though officially nicknamed "The LC," it is still often referred to as Promowest. The venue is part of the entertainment area known as the Arena District, along with Huntington Par, the Arena Grand Theatre, and the Nationwide Arena.

Ohio Theatre

Ohio Theatre, known as the Official Theatre of the State of Ohio, is a performing arts centre in Columbus. The historic 1928 movie palace was closed on 24 February 1969 and was supposed to be demolished. Thanks to the community's rally, the theatre was saved from demolition and completely restored. In 1977, the theatre was declared a National Historic Landmark.

How to get around within Columbus

Downtown Columbus is pedestrian-friendly and fairly walkable. Most of the attractions are within a 20-minute walk from each other. For the rest of the city, you may use the COTA bus service. Local/Crosstown bus transfers are free of charge. An additional fee is asked for transfers between bus types.
