Hotels in Sydney

Sydney a charming city and the main town of the spectacular Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia. The city itself is quaint and often used as a base for visitors wanting to explore the Cabot Trail, a famous drive trail that runs through the National Park.

This is a destination perfect for the outdoorsy, and along the coast you will be in for a chance to see some of the world’s most enchanting marine life, such as whales, dolphins and porpoises. If you don’t fancy getting out the binoculars, you can still enjoy the freedom and feeling of hiring a boat and heading out on open sea. Within Sydney, you can investigate the indigenous cultures, and the colonial stamp of the settlers. With so much within arms reach, you’ll find yourself coming back to this extraordinary part of Canada.

Where should you stay?

Sydney is a small town, and so there aren’t that many neighbourhoods to it. Primarily you will find most hotels are located in the North Sydney area, or in Downtown. The public transportation isn’t extensive, so most visitors to this part of the country rent a vehicle for the duration of their stay. You can book this in advance using our car hire search tool.

North Sydney

In this part of the neighbourhood you will encounter some of the prettiest parts of the city, and the most quaint accommodation establishments. By the shore you can find historic B&Bs and lovely clapboard hotels in this quaint part of the city. Most have views of the bay, and delightful, family-run feel to them.

Downtown Sydney

If you want to be a little closer to the action, then staying near the downtown area is sensible. You can find a number of budget, or higher end guesthouses and hotels within walking distance of the main drag. Easy access to restaurants, bars and the town’s nightlife makes staying in this part of the city a real attraction.

Sydney Mines

If you want to be a little further out from the main part of the city, it’s worth heading to the Sydney Mines area of town. Here, guests of the heritage houses and more modern accommodations can have views out to sea, and beyond the harbour enclave. There’s less to do around this area, but as Sydney is a fairly compact town, finding local restaurants and bars is fairly easy.
