Finding flights from El Alto International Airport (LPB)

The El Alto International Airport (LPB) has the distinction of being one of the highest in the world, and is a premier hub for this city and the nation of Bolivia. Buses and taxis will cross the 13km between the downtown area and the airport, and get you there in roughly 30-40 minutes.

Enjoy flying to around 15 destinations from this airport, to cities around Bolivia, and out to other countries in South America.

If you are intending to discover the best of Bolivia, you can find routes with Boliviana de Aviacion, Ecojet and Amaszonas. The LATAM Group, Peruvian Air Line, and Avianca cover the rest.

Popular destinations from El Alto International Airport

Find time for Bolivia’s own charms, like Sucre (SRE), a pretty city filled with colonial architecture, and only a 50-minute flight away. Or go to the otherworldly Uyuni (UYU) or as it’s known, Salar de Uyuni, the salt flats of Bolivia, that after a rainfall reflect the sky like a perfect mirror.

Flights of up to four hours can take you to the neighbouring countries, like Cusco (CUZ), home to the ruins of Sacsayhuaman, and the ancient city of Machu Picchu, the lost empire of the Incans. Bogota (BOG) is another option, the delightful Colombian capital that offers its visitors cultural, historical, and trekking opportunities within its surrounding hilly landscape.

Whilst you can’t access destinations outside of South America from this airport, you can make connections through Santiago (SCL) and Lima (LIM) two fantastic cities in Chile, and Peru. These hubs fly out to Austrasia, North and Central America, and to some destinations in Europe. So what are you waiting for?
