Right on the banks of Lake Victoria, the Entebbe International Airport (EBB) is the major aviation hub for the city of Entebbe, and the nation of Uganda. The connection between the city and the airport is easily traversed, being less than 4km in total, and made usually via taxi services.

Popular destinations from Entebbe International Airport

 

In an hour, you can discover Jinja (JIN), the source of the Nile River, and the country’s capital for adrenalin-packed fun. Here, you can indulge in white water rafting, go horseback riding, and tour the delightful township. Find your way to Pakuba (PAF) too, at the edge of Murchison Falls National Park, and a jumping off point for safari trips into the countryside.

 

In short-haul trips you can fly north to Cairo (CAI) where the archeological focused Egyptian Museum is one of the best in the world, and the ancient Pyramids of Giza lie in wait for you to discover them. Flying south though, can mean touring the important city of Johannesburg (JNB) that saw the rise and fall of apartheid, and has a number of excellent memorials, museums and galleries charting the change. The remarkable Kruger National Park is less than a half-day’s drive away, and is a perfect place to see the wildlife of the country, especially if you don’t get a chance to go to Murchison Falls.

 

Entebbe’s airport has a surprising selection of long-haul options that you can take advantage of, such as Istanbul (IST) a city at the crossroads of Asia and Europe, and one that has been tempered by the Romans, the Byzantines, and the Ottomans, making it one of the most fascinating cities in the world. Amsterdam (AMS) is also a city available to you from Entebbe, and the prominent museums—which include the Rijksmuseum, and the Anne Frank House—to the city’s parks, canals, and plazas, this is a slice of the Old World that is a joy to explore.
