Cheap flights from Central African Republic

The Central African Republic is a country in Central Africa, landlocked by Chad to the north, Sudan to the northeast, South Sudan to the east, the Republic of the Congo and the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the south, and Cameroon to the west. The current borders were established when the country was a colony of France in the late 19th century. Often abbreviated to CAR, the Central African Republic has a generally tropical climate, with the northern areas being an increasingly dry region, the northeast is desert, and the rest is prone to flooding from the rivers. One wonderful feature of CAR is that the country is least affected by light pollution, making the clear desert nights a truly wonderful sight to behold. CAR is divided into four regions: Southwest Central African Republic, Northwest Central African Republic, Southeast Central African Republic, and Northeast Central African Republic. The capital is Bangui, situated on the northern banks of the Ubangi River.

Where to go

Manovo-Gounda St. Floris National Park - The Manovo-Gounda St. Floris National Park is a 17,000-square-kilometre national park and UNESCO World Heritage Site in the Bamingui-Bangoran prefecture, near the border shared with Chad. The park is home to several notable species, including black rhinoceroses, cheetahs, leopards, elephants, and buffaloes. The site is sadly also included in the List of World Heritage in Danger, with the numbers of rare wildlife and animal species dwindling due to illegal grazing and poaching.

Dzanga-Sangha Special Reserve - The protected reserve in the extreme southwest of the Central African Republic is ecologically rich, with a diverse variety of megafauna. The reserve is home to Western Lowland Gorillas, African Forest Elephants, African Forest Buffalos, and Bongo antelopes, among others. It also consists of almost 500 million acres of tropical forest that contains hundreds of plant species.

Boganda National Museum - The Boganda National Museum in the capital features significant artefacts from the country's history. The displays include traditional musical instruments, weapons, sculptures, and jewellery.

Book a flight to the nearby Republic of the Congo to visit other national parks such as Virunga National Park, Kahuzi-Biéga National Park, Garamba National Park, and Salonga National Park. Other interesting nature-related sites include the Livingstone Falls, Boyoma Falls, Pool Malebo, and of course, the Congo River. In Luanda, Angola is more national parks, but one of its most popular attractions is the Kalandula Falls on the Lucala River, one of the largest waterfalls in Africa in terms of volume.

The only long haul destination available from the main airport in the Central African Republic is Paris,
