Driving in Nice
The Riviera is a chilled out place, and local drivers have a reputation for their relaxed approach to traffic laws. Always drive carefully, keeping well back from any erratic road users that you encounter. The French have a rule, Priorite a droite, which gives cars coming from the right the priority at junctions. This doesn’t apply on roundabouts, but don’t be surprised if you encounter people who act like it does.
Traffic drives on the right in France, and cars have their steering wheel on the left hand side. This can be confusing at first. Just pay extra attention when going around roundabouts and turning at T-junctions, and remember that cars overtake on the left.
