Where to hire a car at Kerry Airport
There are five car hire companies at Kerry Airport: Avis, Budget, Hertz, Europcar, and Dooley Car Rental. Their offices can be found in the long-stay car park, which is a short stroll from the terminal building.
Petrol stations near Kerry Airport
Depending on your car rental agreement, you may need to hand your car back with a full tank.
There are no petrol stations near Kerry Airport. The best thing to do is fill up your tank in Tralee or Killarney.
Driving around Kerry Airport
The N23 national road passes outside the airport, linking the N21 (Limerick to Tralee) with the N22 (Tralee to Cork). The airport is very well connected and you can easily get onto both roads: turn left for the N22, and right for the N21. The roads are small and pastoral, so you don’t need to worry about fast motorway traffic the moment you leave Kerry Airport.
Getting to your destination
The lively and picturesque town of Killarney is one of the main stopping points on the Ring of Kerry, and makes a fantastic base for exploring the lakes and mountains of the nearby national park.
Killarney is just over 15 minutes away from Kerry Airport. There are plenty of metered parking spaces in Killarney town centre, both on-street and in public car parks. Many hotels in Killarney offer free car parking for their guests: this is especially common on the outskirts of the town.
Famous for its Rose of Tralee beauty pageant, this charming Irish town makes a great base for exploring County Kerry. There are plenty of restaurants and pubs to enjoy after a long walk in the countryside, many of which boast live music.
It takes about 20 minutes to drive to Tralee from Kerry Airport. There are some metered public car parks and on-street spaces where you can leave your car for the afternoon. If you’re basing yourself in Tralee it’s a good idea to look for hotels with car parking facilities.
Home of Fungi the dolphin and Europe’s westernmost point, Dingle is an attractive and lively destination well worth a visit during your next trip to Kerry.
It takes just under an hour to reach Dingle from Kerry Airport. There are plenty of places to park in the town. There’s a pay and display car park down by the harbour and some pay and display spaces in the town centre too. When you’re choosing a hotel in Dingle, look for one with a guest car park.
