Dandong Airport, officially called Dandong Langtou Airport, is an airport located approximately 11km by road to the city of Dandong, in the northwestern region of China. The airport and the city of Dandong is located along the banks of the Yalu River, and close to the border of North Korea. Dandong is the largest border city in China, and the airport is also still utilised by the military.

The airport has a single arrivals and departures hall through which all flights arrive and depart. There are a number of basic shops and a restaurant/cafe which open a few hours before flights depart.

Trains hide 

There are also direct high speed G trains to Beijing from Dandong which depart 2-3 times a day, and the journey takes approximately 6 hours. There is also a ferry you can catch from Dandong city to Incheon port in South Korea. Ferries depart from Dandong at 3 pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. The journey is overnight and takes around 15 hours. 

Buses hide 

If you are travelling elsewhere in China after landing in Dandong, the city is connected to other areas of China by road and bus routes, and you can take a long distance bus from Dandong to Beijing (a 10-hour journey), Shenyang (a 3-hour journey), Dalian (a 4-hour Journey) and Tonghua (a 5-hour journey).

Taxi hide 

Taxis operate in the area and are readily available to transport passengers to and from the airport. The flagfall fare from the airport is usually 5 Yuan ($1 AUD), and the journey to most destinations within Dandong city should be a maximum of around 10 Yuan ($2 AUD). Be aware that taxi drivers will usually speak little to no English, and you should ensure that the taxi driver turns the meter on at the start of the journey to avoid having to pay more than you need to.
