Belmopan Airport

When one is fascinated by the ephemeral beauty of an underworld environment, the place to visit is Belize. It has the second longest reef in the world, making its coastline a delight to dive into. Those interested to visit here will not just enjoy the beaches, as there are cities in the interior where one can have laidback holidays. Belmopan, the capital, has a pleasant feel to it, with an international population due to the number of embassies located here. Those planning to visit can connect to Hector Silva Airstrip, otherwise known as Belmopan Airport.

Located between 17.2695999 (latitude) and -88.7764969 (longitude), Hector Silva Airport can be found around three kilometres away from the airport. Not much information is available for those looking into its history, but it was renovated for expansion in 2002 by the British Army. This widening of facilities were done to accommodate larger planes such as the Lockheed C=130 Hercules. The British Defence Forces also uses this domestic port of entry as temporary landing facilities for small aircraft.

Visitors checking out Belmopan can turn to Belize Archives Department, one of the city's museums. Rotating displays are offered here for a variety of topics such as hurricanes, Baron Bliss, and other themes. Extensive collections of photographs, books, maps, and many more can also be examined here. From here, tourists can check out the natural and cultural sites in the area, such as St. Herman's Cave, which was used by the ancient Mayas for their ceremonies and the Caracol, the biggest ruin in Belize.

Tourists landing on Hector Silva Airstrip will find unmarked runways and a small terminal. The flights serving here are more or less managed by Tropic Air, which take passengers around Belize City-International, Belize City-Municipal, Caye Caulker, San Pedro, and San Ignacio.

Those going from here to international locations can turn to the international airport in Belize City. It is officially called as Philip S. W. Goldson International Airport, the largest and busiest in the country. Various international airlines drop off and take off passengers here, such as American Airlines, Avianca El Salvador, Delta Air Lines, Maya Island Air, Southwest Airlines, Transportes Aereos Guatemaltecos, Tropic Air, United Airlines, and US Airways.
