From Sicily, you are ideally located to explore the mainland of Italy, and its magical cities. See the Tuscan jewel of Florence (FLR), and marvel at the magnificent art in the Uffizi or the Accademia. Or fly north, and get to know the personality of the Lombardy city of Milan (MXP, LIN, BGY), a mixture of the earthy influence of Italy and the elegant one of the continent. See its pièce de resistance, the snow-white Gothic Duomo, and shop in the flagship stores of famous designer fashion houses.

Leave Italy altogether and get to know another side of the continent, as within a few hours you can be drinking beer, trying on lederhosen, and visiting the nearby castles of Munich (MUC), or exploring the tiny archipelago of Malta (MLA), whose islands are home to some of the most important Neolithic sites in Europe.

If you’d like to fly somewhere beyond the borders of the Old World, you will need to connect to a more comprehensive international aviation facility, and from Palermo, the closest option is Rome (FCO).
