Exeter International Airport is located at the village of Clyst Honiton in the District of East Devon in South West England. The airport is about four miles or 6.4 kilometres east of the Exeter, and abour 170 miles or 270 kilometres southwest of London. It is connected to the A30 dual carriageway to the south, and the M5 in the west. The M5 has connections to Bristol and the Midlands.
It is easy to return to the airport from the M5 motorway. The nearest major destinations are Clyst Honiton, Broadclyst, Rockbeare, Whimple, Farringdon, and Woodbury. The nearest place to have the fuel tank refilled is at MS J30 Services, five minutes away from M5 J29.
Driving around Exeter International Airport
Due to the location of the city, one can leave the urban environment and reach the countryside with much ease. To the east is Lyme Regis, while to the south is Totnes and Dartmouth. The whole of the southwest peninsula can easily be accessed.
Major roads that pass through and serve Exeter include the M5 motorway which starts and Birmingham and goes through Bristol and Exeter, connecting at Bristol with the M4 to London and South Wales. There is also the A30 road that links Exeter to London via the A303 and M3. A38 on the other hand links Exeter to Plymouth and southeast Cornwall, while the A30 leads to north and west Cornwall via Okehampton. Note that traffic jams usually occur on the Exe Bridges area. As of writing, there are no congestion charges in the city, but the Devon City Council is already planning on this.
Getting to your destination
Exmouth is the oldest seaside resort in Devon. Its two-mile golden sandy beach is popular amongst both tourists and locals. Exmouth offers a wide range of facilities for various activities such as water sports, sailing, cycling, and fishing. It also hosts the Exmouth Arts Festival at the end of May, and has a thriving arts scene.
Exmouth is situated 15 minutes from the M5 Motorway. Exit at Junction 30 and just follow the A376.
Lyme Regis is a coastal town in West Dorset. It is best known for the fossils found in its cliffs and beaches, part of the Jurassic Coast, and The Cobb, a large harbour wall.
Lyme Regis is located 40 kilometres east of Exeter. You can arrive at the town either via A30 and A35, or via A3052.
The small town of Dartmouth is known for the Dartmouth Castle. Other attractions include the St Saviour's Church, St Petrox Church, Woodlands Park, Dartmouth Museum, and the Dartmouth Golf & Country Club. It is also possible to go camping at the Little Cotton Campsite or Woodlands Caravan & Camping Par.
Dartmouth is located on the A379 coast road. From Exeter International Airport, take A38 and follow signposts for Dartmouth.
