Gold Coast may have some of the country’s best beaches, but families may be more interested in its hub of theme parks. From major attractions like Wet’n’Wild and Dreamworld to smaller places like Infinity Attraction and Adrenalin Park, it’s easy to fill your days in new and exciting ways. Southeast Asia is an incredibly cost-effective destination, especially if you’re travelling with the family. In the south of Malaysia, you can find some incredible theme parks. The jewel in the crown is undeniably Legoland. Johor Bahru’s toy-based resort was the first of its kind in Asia, after huge success in Denmark and California.
Aside from Legoland, there are plenty of waterparks, SnowWorld and the indoor Skytropolis theme park. If time permits, Johor is right on the border with Singapore so you can head south to see Sentosa Island.
When Pham Nhat Vuongbecame Vietnam’s first billionaire, he had a bold vision: build a massive theme park. VinWonders Nha Trang is the result of that dream.
The wonder starts before you arrive. Take your choice of speedboat or cable car over the ocean to enter the park. Once in, you can go to the waterslides, enjoy the classic fairground attractions or visit the aquarium with 300+ species of fish. VinWonders also has access to its own beach and if you stay at the adjacent Vinpearl, you can book snorkelling tours and other excursions.
Trips to Southeast Asia are often a touch on the warm side for travellers, and a trip to a water park is a great way to cool down. Vana Nava Water Jungle near Hua Hin, a couple hours south of Bangkok is a great option.
Enjoy Thailand’s largest slide and Asia’s biggest manmade waterfall, flit between the 19 water-based activities (suitable for different ages) then dry off and head inside to play on the vast collection of arcade machines.
