A return visit for two weeks
I'd stayed here before and had some issues with customer service at the desk. This time, the trip was seamless. The price of The Bartlett along with the location and amenities makes it the best place for me for these longer work phases when I am in the DC area. The location is perfect for my work in DC and in the Arlington area.
I love that I can go down the elevator and to the Whole Foods to grab a quick buffet dinner or some wine. There's a coffee and juice bar there as well, and a Commonwealth Joe coffee shop on the other side.
The place is immaculate, but you need to know you do not get maid service while you are there. This is fine for me, in fact preferable. You can do your laundry - just make sure you take a detergent pod or two. Parking costs a bit extra but it is worth it.
Note: This is in Arlington/Crystal City, Virginia, NOT United, PA.

Great Location, Difficult Customer Service
My usual place was full when I had to make a business trip to DC so I thought I'd give this place a try. It is pricier than what I usually pay but you get what you pay for in this case.
I had a 1 bedroom apartment. It was very clean, and functional, with a view of the Pentagon, and the Washington Monument etc. Unlike a hotel, there is no daily cleaning/maid service, which is fine with me.
The best part is to take the elevator down in the morning to get coffee - turn left or right and you can get yourself a latte at either Whole Foods or Commonwealth Joe, which are attached to the building. For dinner, I just went down to the Whole Foods buffet and brought my meal back up to the apartment.
There is enough parking.
You are pretty much on your own in terms of customer support when you use any of the Bridgestreet or other management firm apartments. (I know these units are often leased out by one or two firms.) I've tried two different properties and the routine is the same.
You pre-pay and go in and pick up an envelope at the front desk. The clerk knows nothing about your reservation or apartment and has little access to any information for you. They hand you an envelope and that's pretty much it.
The envelope will have a paper in it with details like your wifi password, what unit you'e in, dates of your reservation and a number to call if you have a problem and so on. There are keys and a parking pass if you paid for parking.
When you check out, you just turn all of that back in. I always put everything back into the same envelope and turn it in.
This time there was a problem. Do like I do, and check and double check that all of your keys and things are back in the envelope.
I'm not sure what happened but my guess is that because there were so many people behind the desk and other things going on that the clerk misplaced the parking pass somehow. The management wanted to charge me 200 dollars if I didn't return it. I explained that I turned it in and didn't hear back from them. Not sure if I'll get hit with that charge... I am a little irritated about that. They don't have their own customer service on site and it leaves the traveler a little exposed to difficulties.
The unit is wonderful and during a tense work week, this was just what I needed to get my rest in my off time. It's quieter than a hotel, and you have a lot more space. The only thing missing is customer service. At other stays in other units, I've had to call them for different things and they are very responsive, but there is next to no customer service on-site.
The address is currently wrong for this place on Tripadvisor, it is in Arlington VA not United, PA

Beautiful building with amazing amenities
We rented two nights at the Bartlett in Pentagon City since we were running the DC Rock and Roll Marathon. They have a short stay program where you can rent by the night. They have 16 units available for rent this way and we rented a 1BR unit which was located on the 10th floor. The building itself is almost brand new having been built within the year. They're connected to a Whole Foods and Commonwealth Joes so it's easy to buy groceries or get a bite to eat or get a coffee in the morning. We were given two key fobs that open our apartment door as well as work the elevator that brings us to the lobby or garage. There's a big recreation area on the 16th floor where there's foozball, pool, and huge televisions mounted on the walls with sports, UFC, cartoons and other shows being played. There's a big spacious gym with brand new weights, treadmills, and elliptical machines on the first floor which had high ceilings and big windows which allowed in a lot of sunlight. It seemed like a great place to enjoy a workout. There's also a work bar fully stocked with free assorted teas to accompany the many booths and large tables that can be used to read/work/use your laptop. There were also private conference rooms that are free to be used. In the middle of the building was an outdoor area with a fire pit and dog areas. Since the Bartlett is dog friendly you can see a lot of dogs and their owners walking around the building.
The Bartlett also hosts many free events for their guests and residents which is probably one of the best parts. On the night we were there they had an adult board game night in the recreation area with brand new board games like Taboo and Apples to Apples. They also provided free wine, beer, and drinks for everyone. The next morning they had a waffle buffet where one of the ladies working there name Salam made amazing waffles from a fresh waffle mix that she put together herself. The waffle buffet had trays of sausages, fully loaded toppings like fresh fruits, chocolate chips, and bacon flavored syrup, as well as mimosas and bloody marys.
The apartment itself was very modern. Fully furnished for our short two night stay, it had a working kitchen with beautiful Dansk plateware and stainless steel appliances like refrigerator, stove and dishwasher. The furniture was very tasteful with a big wooden coffee table, big TV and a large shaggy rug. The sofa was also a pullout sofa bed if you had another guest. The balcony overlooked the inner outdoor courtyard. The Bartlett also included a free coupon for a cup of coffee at Commonwealth Joes which was a nice gesture. The location in Pentagon City was very convenient with just a short metro ride to DC at the Metro station located 5 minutes away or just a 10 minute car ride across the bridge to the Washington Monument. There's also a mall close by at about a 5 minute walk that we didn't visit this time.
Overall our stay was amazing and we really enjoyed our room, the amenities of the building, and the great location. We would definitely recommend renting here either for a short stay if it's available or as a long term resident if that's what you're looking for.

A lovely roomy apartment
The Bartlett provided a lovely spacious apartment, which suited me perfectly for three months. There was a Wholefoods supermarket below on the ground floor, and five minutes from two subway lines that take you to the centre of Washington. The accoutrements provided were, however, a little bit idiosyncratic. There was a large number of glasses; no electric kettle/jug (but I understand that is less common in the US); no draining rack for dishes; and short a few other things as well. There was light switch which did not seem to be connected to a light. The spare sheets didn’t actually fit the bed, but as the washing machine and drier were so good that there was not need to use the spares.
So if staying for a longer time make sure what you would like there in terms of appliances etc is there before you arrive. Apart for that an excellent apartment and the agent was very responsive as well. Note there is no accommodation tax if staying for more than a month but bookings.com only allows for a month at a time so book directly with the property for longer periods.

Pathetic service experience
I visit DC for my work every weekday and booked with this service apartment for 3 weeks in advance. When i tried checking in at 8:30pm, the apartment was not clean and was a mess. I complained to the front desk and it took 1 hour, talking to 3 people (explaining details, including to the front desk guy) and frustrating negotiation with "Churchill living". They agreed to give me another room but wanted me to check out the next day to accomodate a guest who has booked the specific apartment. They did not allow me to cancel my reservation and refund. They also kept promising me for a "compensation" which they had no idea what it meant and mentioned their "management" will get back to me on that without a timeline. I would not recommend this place to anyone for the non negotiating behaviour of the staff and unruly service.
