More about Hotel Regina
Hotel Regina
In a quiet location at 1,600 metres above sea level, the non-smoking, Art Nouveau-style Hotel Regina in the car-free village of Murren is set on a slope across from the spectacular Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau mountains.

Old charm, Jugendstil gem, very nice personnel.
Wonderful views, wonderful building with preserved Jugendstil details (some are truly spectacular!). Great restaurant: salads and dressings are above foodies' expectations; the manu varies with intriguing options. Great breakfast! There is a sun terrace with a view that is difficult to match.
Very nice people, servers, chefs - everyone is friendly and cheerful. Two lou.nges: an old-charm one, for reading and socializing and another one, more modern, with a night bar.
CONs
You need to accept the Swiss pricing - but the Regina is worth each penny it charges.
Conclusions
This is a place with old charm, personality, history. THEY REALLY CARE to preserve it. If the Grand Tour of Europe's historic hotels intrigues you, Murren is a must and the Regina is the place to go.
P.S.
I spent a weekend at the Bellevue des Alpes, on Kleine Scheidegg. Frankly speaking, I see very similar experience, furniture, details and care between the two hotels, despite their possibly different ranking.
Glad I stayed at both!

Do not stay here …
The bathroom setup was uncomfortable and lacked privacy. The shower facilities are shared by men and women, while there are separate toilet rooms designated for men and women. Despite this, men were going into and using the women’s bathroom during our stay.
The shared shower situation mind blowing and gross. While I was showering with my younger daughter, a man came into the shower area, and my daughter ended up seeing his penis. This is just outrageous and disgusting. No, just no.
People were also regularly walking through the hotel between their rooms and the bathrooms wearing only boxers or wrapped in towels. The outer doors to the bathroom areas did not properly shut, which made the complete lack of privacy feel even worse. On top of that, the lights in the bathroom areas shut off automatically after a very short time, so if you needed to use the toilet for more than a minute, you were left sitting there in the dark.
The hotel elevator was another major concern. We actually got stuck inside it and could not get out for a few minutes. It also doesn’t have an interior safety door separating passengers from the outside, so as the elevator moves up and down, the wall and exterior surfaces pass directly alongside you and can be touched from inside.
Housekeeping was nonexistent. We stayed for four days and did not have housekeeping service a single time. The towels we were given stayed wet and were never replaced. When I asked for fresh towels, I was asked, “You don’t have towels?” Yes, we had towels—three-day-old, wet, paper-thin towels. I was then told that housekeeping had already gone home for the day, and I was not given fresh ones.
Further, there was visible mold in the shower room, the furniture in our room was broken, and the walls were so thin that we could hear everything.
Getting to the hotel with luggage was another ordeal because of the steep uphill walk. Also, keep in mind that you have to pay for the lift/transportation to get to and from the area, and those costs can add up very quickly. I strongly recommend looking into one of the available travel passes if you are staying here, as it can save you a significant amount of money on transportation.
While the location has appeal, it does not come close to making up for the lack of cleanliness, privacy, comfort, and basic amenities we experienced. For the price we paid, the entire experience was unacceptable. I would absolutely not recommend Hotel Regina.

Disappointing Stay – More Like a Hostel Than a Hotel
The room itself was freezing when we arrived. The heat had not been turned on, and despite turning on the radiator immediately, it took nearly three hours for the room to become comfortable.
Unfortunately, noise was also a major problem. The walls are extremely thin. We could hear a guest in another room snoring throughout the night, and in the morning, someone’s phone alarm went off every ten minutes for nearly an hour. Both my husband and I were repeatedly woken up and unable to get quality sleep.
To make matters worse, the mattress was very uncomfortable. I woke up with significant back pain and a migraine after a restless night.
While the surrounding area of Mürren is absolutely beautiful, the accommodations did not provide the comfort, privacy, or rest we were expecting at the price point and advertisement as a hotel. I would strongly recommend that future guests carefully verify the room type and bathroom situation before booking. If you’re looking for another option we absolutely loved Hotel Regina Wengen just a train ride away - they do not share ownership and we were blown away by the hotel and paid $400 USD per night which was more because we booked last minute.
