Lovely, peaceful hotel in busy Lima

We had a wonderful stay and the hospitality could not have been better. I traveled with a large family group and we were a challenging bunch. The staff placed our rooms close together and otherwise provided so much helpful information and advice (front desk staff), we felt lucky to be there and special. It was extremely convenient to have the free wi-fi and access to the two desktop computers in the lobby. The hotel is a short walk (Lima standards) to the department stores and is across the street from some convenience stores. Otherwise, taxis were necessary to get around but this is generally the case in Lima. The rooms were nice and the view was bright and pretty. Better English than my Spanish was spoken by the front desk staff. If I am lucky enough to return to Lima, I would love to stay at Hotel El Marques again!

Looks great at first sight, is actually terrible

Got scammed by this hotel.
Don't book. Booked a room via booking and had to pay at the reception. The reception forced me to pay 15% more. We were desperate as our apartment canceled on us last minute, so we had to pay this.
Breakfast is only until 9 in the morning, which is fine when you're here on business, but as a tourist you cannot sleep in. Traffic is really bad here early in the morning, so expect to wake up early anyway. Windows are really thin and don't close properly, so you will hear everything that's going around in the streets.
The beds are really big, but very hard. So you can expect back pain after one night.
Shower temperature is a lottery. No matter what temperature you set it to, it can go from ice gold to boiling hot in seconds.
The wifi is just an open network and often pretty slow.
One night lamp is not working and keeps flashing. We had to take the bulb out to stop it from flashing all the time.
Air conditioning in the room is great and works perfectly fine.

Hit and Run

We passed here just one night.
We arrived in the evening (just landed in Lima) and left early in the morning, so I can't say anything about the position and the neighborhood.
The hotel has an unexpected medieval style.
The room was big enough and clean.
On the last floor there's a restaurant (that saved us cause we were hungry but too tired to search for a place where to have dinner).
Nothing to complain.

Not worth the price

Stayed for business so I could walk to my office. It is close to shopping and restaurants but is in the business district so not much touristy to do here. The shower was fine and the bathroom adequate. There was a king-sized bed but it is time for a new mattress. One elevator that was under repair for most of the two weeks that I stayed there.

Great value rates and great service

We were delighted to find this hotel property in San Isidro area, which several hotels pretend to be better than they are just for this location.
But in this case we felt that our choice was the right.
Fine rooms with spanish decoration, great service and the staff
were always in service and following all fo our inquires.
Nice to see Lima again with this new possibility.
