An Exceptional, Design-Forward Sanctuary with Impeccable Service in Tulum
I booked Be Tulum for five nights in late February to celebrate my girlfriend’s 50th birthday, and the experience exceeded every expectation.
After extensive research, I was still slightly apprehensive — as beautiful hotel photography does not always match reality. In this case, the property is even more impressive in person. The design is stunning: chic, understated bohemian elegance blended seamlessly with the surrounding jungle. The rooms are spacious, extremely comfortable, and thoughtfully appointed. Every detail feels intentional.
The grounds are immaculate. Lush tropical pathways connect the villas and common areas, creating a true sense of privacy and tranquility. The beach — which can sometimes be a concern in Tulum due to seaweed — was exceptionally well maintained. The team cleans it every morning, and it was never an issue during our stay.
Breakfast at the beachfront restaurant is outstanding and absolutely worth including in your package. The quality and setting elevate the experience. Guests also have access to additional dining options at the sister property next door, which adds welcome variety.
What truly differentiates Be Tulum, however, is the service. The staff is attentive, warm, and consistently proactive. A special thank you to the concierge team — particularly Aylin and Fernanda — who were instrumental in helping me prepare the stay in advance. They were responsive, thoughtful, and provided excellent recommendations. While I organized most of the itinerary myself, the few experiences arranged through them were among the best we had in Tulum — and comparable to some of the finest guided experiences I’ve had internationally.
Be Tulum delivered not only a beautiful setting, but a refined, seamless experience from start to finish. We left with unforgettable memories. Highly recommended.

The hotel is nice and our room was good but the hotel has raccoons roaming the property. At one point, a raccoon entered our room and opened the minibar. I alerted the staff who tried to shrug it off by saying “we are in the wild with them”. We couldn’t sleep at all as the raccoon knocked on our glass sliding door a few times during the nigbt to see if it could slide it open or we left it unlocked … Terrifying.

Charged $150 for “Free” Items in Room
This part of Tulum is beautiful, but the hotel does not live up to its luxury marketing and makes money by scamming you. We were charged $150 for “minibar” items like small nuts and lotion that were left around the room, despite the worker telling us that only items in the fridge were part of the minibar. They make it seem like basic items are included with the (already expensive) room, and then turn around to charge you exorbitant prices. Certain items are included (the incense around the room and in the bathroom) while others are NOT (the incense on the table), with no clear indications of what is an additional cost. And certainly no list of prices for the items anywhere (which make sense, given that no one would pay nearly $50 if they knew the price).
Aside from profiting off of this miscommunication rather than correcting the issue, the service and basic amenities of the hotel also did not live up to expectations.
The room’s safe was inoperable and required a technician to come fix it. The de-humidifier was out of maintenance and beeped all night the first day, keeping us up all night. They forgot to include a hairdryer with the room, and then forgot again to bring us one after we called them about it. These issues should not have happened in the first place, and response time to fix them was unacceptable.
I would recommend staying in one of the many other beautiful hotels in the hotel zone, not this one.

Unexpected surprise
We made reservations for Nomade and paid $6300 on credit card before departure from USA. Imagine our surprise to find Nomade CLOSED. We travel alot and had never had this happen. There was no signage and we immediately imagined the worst. A taxi driver on the street said “go next door to Be Tulum” they are owned by same family. Expecting to not be welcomed we entered Be Tulum with much trepidation. They embraced us, consoled us and worked so very hard to give us the room we dreamed of. My husband was recently diagnosed with cancer so we decided to splurge on the best suite that Nomade had. Be Tulum took the torch and listened to what our dream room was. It took a couple of days but they put us in a dreamy casita! The staff was so helpful and supportive. Armondo, Alehandro, Nestor, Ricardo, Elisio, and Jasmine really stood out to us. Thank you Be Tulum for stepping into a scary and disappointing situation and turning our experience around! Beaches have alot of seaweed but that was not their fault. The grounds and pools are so lovely!

A Peaceful and Healing Experience
My stay at Be Tulum was truly special.
I especially want to thank Jose for his kindness, compassion, and genuine care. He took the time to listen to me, meditated with me, and made me feel seen and supported.
